Seth arrived early in the morning, peering into the kitchen as I cooked him breakfast. He saw me, and smiled. “You’re cooking me breakfast?” he asked in surprise, and I smiled.

“What? Don’t you normally eat at breakfast?” I asked, and I tipped the fried eggs I had made onto two slices of toast.

“Well, I normally just make do with what I have, or just don’t eat,” Seth said, sitting down on one of the stools. I handed the plate to him, and he grinned.

“Seeing as I have a kitchen, and a boyfriend who eats food, why not use it?” I whispered, smiling.

He looked up at me. “Are you hungry? Your eyes have turned black,” he said, concerned. The burning in my throat confirmed my hunger.

Jasper and Alice walked in, joining me behind the counter.

“Good morning Seth,” Alice greeted, flashing a dazzling smile at him before hugging me. “Hungry?” she laughed as he began to wolf down the breakfast. “I know I am,” Alice smiled, and I noticed that her eyes were black, just like mine.

“I’m fine on my own,” Seth said, swallowing first. “Go eat.”

Alice looked at Jasper, and then at me.

“Why not?” Jasper smiled, and we left.

I loved watching Alice hunt. She did it with such grace and delicacy. After spotting her meal, she would gently leap into the air and sink her teeth into her prey’s neck before it had time to realize it was being attacked. She would leap off the carcass and land next to Jasper, without a hair out of place, or a spot of blood on her clothes.

My attempts were not as good, but still decent. I caught onto the smell of a mountain lion quite quickly, and ran towards it, Jasper and Alice following behind. I stopped behind a tree, and saw the lion sunbathing on a large rock. It hadn’t heard us. As soundless as I could, I leaped onto the rock, and it did not notice at all. I crept closer and closer to it. So close that I could reach out and touch its foot, I jumped onto the lion, and it widened its eyes in horror before I tore into its throat.

“Hey!” Alice called, as she jumped off a tree branch and onto the porch outside the kitchen. Jasper and I followed her, but we were nowhere near as graceful.

“Yo,” Seth called from the kitchen. He was still sat at the counter, picking at a banana. Carlisle and Esme stood the other side of the counter, talking to him. They both looked up when we came in.

“We went hunting. Someone’s gotten better,” Alice grinned, looking at me. I smiled.

“Your eyes have turned golden too,” Carlisle said to me, also smiling. He wrapped his arm around Esme's waist.

“For someone who doesn’t know how to cook, your food is great,” Seth said as he walked over to me and wrapped his arm around my waist.

"She's read my cook books," Esme said, smiling. It was true. I had read her cook books to make sure that I would be able to cook food, just incase it ever came in handy.

Esme looked up at Carlisle, who kissed her. They were so perfect together, it was unreal. I slightly envied each of them in my own way. I envied Esme for having such an amazing and compassionate husband, and I envied Carlisle for the love him and Esme had together.

I looked up at Seth, who had noticed me looking at them. He smiled and kissed my cheek. We were just as good together, even if we were different species. Carlisle looked at Seth before leaving with Esme.

“Oh, oh!” Alice suddenly burst, “Titanic is on again! Let’s go watch!” she said, a smile spreading across her face. We laughed as we followed her to the living room. I still didn't see what she loved so much about the film.
