Seth arrived just as the rest of the family arrived. “Edward told Jacob because he’s looking after Renesmee, and he told me,” he said, answering my puzzled look. We all sat down on the sofas.

“What do we do?” I whispered, asking no one in particular.

“We must go and find him. Stop him before he steps out of line,” Carlisle said.

We spent the night working out exactly what to do and who would come. In the end, everyone agreed to help me, but we would split up in Volterra to not draw attention to us. Seth was the only werewolf helping us.

I took out the slip with Tom’s number from my pocket. I knew that if I didn’t tell someone why I wasn’t at school, rumors would start to go around of why I wasn’t there. I flipped open my phone and dialed the number.

It rang three times before Tom picked it up. “Hello?”

“Hey, Tom. It’s Elora,” I whispered, trying to sound ill.

“Oh! Hey Elora! Are you alright after yesterday?” he asked.

“No, I’m ill. It wasn’t completely the blood that made me feel bad,” I whispered, and laughed. It was the perfect cover story.

There was a short silence. “Are they taking care of you?” He asked, and worry filled his voice.

“Yes, they are. I’ve only got the flu or something. Nothing majorly horrible,” I whispered.

Tom sighed. “Okay. Will you be back tomorrow?”

“Probably not,” I whispered, and I added a cough. My throat didn't seem to like it as I didn't need to cough anymore.

“Well, get well soon,” he said.

“Thanks,” I whispered, and I hung up the phone.

“Are you sure you don’t like him?” Seth asked me as we boarded the plane. Edward, Carlisle, and Bella came with Seth and me. Esme, Rosalie, Emmett, Jasper and Alice would go on a plane later on, and would walk around Volterra, only coming to help us if we needed it.

“Seriously, Seth? I thought you were the type who didn’t get jealous,” I whispered, snuggling into his chest. “Of course I don’t love him. You’ll be the only one I will ever love.”

“It’s a good thing I’m immortal then,” Seth said, smiling, and he wrapped his arm around me. “But I’m so much easier to kill than you.”

“It doesn’t mean that we can’t spend the rest of our lives together. I doubt that someone will find out the secrets of our kinds, seeing as we’ve managed to keep it for centuries,” I whispered. “Now go to sleep. You’ll need it.”

Seth settled down more, and I soon heard his low breathing as he fell asleep. It had been months since I had dreamed or even slept. I almost missed it. I looked up at Seth's calm face, and I smiled. The slow rise and fall of his chest was like a ticking clock, each rise and fall perfectly in time with the one before. I now knew why Edward loved watching Bella sleep so much. It was so interesting and peaceful.

Edward laughed from the seat behind me, hearing what I had thought. “Bella’s never understood,” he said to me, and we both laughed.

Bella elbowed him in the ribs.

Volterra was so much safer since the last time I had visited here. The clouds had covered the sky, making it safe for us to walk around. It was quite a busy day, but not so much so that it was crowded. It was market day, and stalls of multi-coloured products lined the protective walls of Volterra. I knew Alice would get distracted very easily when she arrived.
