~ TOM ~

The day had finally come. The weather had cleared, and the people that were grounded were able to leave. Tom still couldn't get you out of his head. He had tried to meet up with you several times, but each time he tried, Victoria said that you were busy, and that he should try another time.

The news of the two of you kissing had spread like a wildfire. People were commenting on his, Zendaya's, and your Instagram, asking questions about whether you were dating, or if it was just a one-night stand. He ignored them, but he still couldn't help reading the comments.

Zendaya was still mad, but she was at least talking to Tom, which he considered to be progress. Of course, there was still the fact that their relationship was still changed, no matter what.

Pacing around his room, Tom bit his lip and glanced at the clock on the bedside. 10:43. Everyone was supposed to leave to go to the airport in seventeen minutes. The chance of him ever seeing any of them again was slim.

"This sucks," he mumbled. Running his hands through his hair, he decided to make one last attempt to try and talk to you. Grabbing his jacket from the edge of his bed, he threw it on and left the room.

He quickly tried to formulate what he would say as he entered the elevator and pushed the button that would take him to your floor. When the elevator dinged, Tom jumped before exiting.

"Just tell her the truth," he muttered quietly. Each step that he took made him more nervous, and soon (too soon), he was at your door. Swallowing, he reached out his hand and knocked. He heard someone moving inside, but no one answered. He knew that if it was Victoria, she would have answered.

"Y/N?" he called. "Y/N, I really need to talk to you."

~ Y/N ~

You stopped softly in front of the door, waiting. You held your breath, hoping he couldn't hear your racing heart.

"Can you please open the door?" You swallowed.

"What?" you asked, your voice quivering, though you weren't sure why.

"We haven't really talked about what happened a few days ago," he replied after a second.

"What's there to talk about? You said it wouldn't happen again, and it hasn't. Problem solved."

"Y/N, please open the door."

"Whatever you have to say, you can say on the other side of the door."

"Why don't you want to see me?"

There was nothing further from the truth. As the days had worn on, you kept thinking about your kiss. You smiled at the thought. You knew it was wrong the moment he kissed you, but for some reason, you couldn't pull yourself away. The smile was wiped from your lips, though, as your thoughts shifted to the news articles and fan accounts that had suddenly sprung up.

Slowly, you reached up your hand and unlocked the door. Tom was smiling softly on the other side. You peaked your head out, still preventing him from entering.

"I have to leave in a few minutes," you said, almost as if that would stop him from saying what he was going to say.

"I know," he replied, "so I won't drag it out." He swallowed nervously and looked away. "I shouldn't have kissed you," he began. "But I don't think either of us can deny that there was something between us when it happened."

"You have a girlfriend," you stated plainly, frowning slightly.

"I know, and I'm not discounting that." He looked back at you. "But you felt something too, right?" It was your turn to look away.

"Maybe." You looked back up and saw Tom nodding as if he was suddenly sure of himself.

"Alright." He paused and licked his lips. "Can I at least give you my number?"

"I don't know. . ."

"I won't push myself onto you," he continued. "I swear. I just want to get to know you better. Even if it's just as friends." You hesitated.

"Friends?" you repeated as you reached for your phone in your back pocket. Part of you knew that regardless of his answer, you'd still give him your phone.

"Friends," he confirmed. You smiled and gave him your phone.

"Friends," you said again as he handed you back his phone.
