it had been about.. a week? since you last visited me, charlie. ive waited VERY patiently for you, and my patience does not last long. also, ethans been pretty antsy lately, and it had been getting on my nerves.

then, i found out why. he was trying to get the balls to propose to, fuck, who was it again? bella? no, blythe, yes it was blythe. they met last year, at becks birthday party. they hit it off instantly. they moved in together at 4 months of dating! and now, their getting married. props to ethan, i guess, he'd always been whining about his love life to me.

blythe and him went on vacation immediately after(and when i say immediately, i mean it. they left the day fucking after.) and ethan got some girl to fill in for him. her name was.. elizabeth? shes good at her job, and fills for me when needed, but shes a little, too comfortable.

shes always trying to make a move on me, which, i appreciate the effort, and maybe if i hadnt met charlie by now, i would gladly welcome it. but, i have charlie, and you, charlie are much more appealing than this
fresh-out-of-college elizabeth.

speaking of charlie, you finally visited mooneys. it was spring, so the sun had been out lots, and you, you were wearing a dress. it was a satin bed dress, with puffed sleeves. you looked like an angel. just add some wings and a halo, and hell, id think you came straight from heaven.

you paired that satin bed dress with the same babydoll pink ballet flats, a dainty necklace and a white sunhat. you looked so beautiful.

i guess you had missed me too, since when you walked into the shop, you skipped your way over to the counter, where i was reading. you playfully patted my head, and i looked up to meet your eyes. i said this last time you were here, but, wow, you were gorgeous.

i think i might have been staring too long, since you looked away from me, to see elizabeth working in the back. i stood up from my chair, to see you eye to eye.

"nice of you to stop by." i said and she turned towards me. she shook her head, chuckling.
"im going to need another book. my weekends are way too free." weekends, huh? should i ask about them? nah, its way too early. "well, you are quite the speed reader. it took me lots longer than you to finish catcher in the rye."

you merely nodded, and followed me to the bookshelves. "so, what kind of book are you looking to read? hopefully not a dan brown like him." i said, pointing to the man in the corner shelf. you laughed. your laugh was like pure sweetness. no false intentions, just innocent laughter. i like that.

you looked deep in thought for a genre you would like to read, and you fidgeted with your fingers. you had very small hands. they looked, so fragile. so dainty. i thought of what it would be like to intertwine those fingers with mine.

"thriller or mystery, maybe?" i was so lost in thought, i forgot you were thinking of genres.
"alright, well then i have the perfect author for you." i led her to the back B-C section shelf, and pulled off a black cover book. "agatha christie. very good at detective novels." i handed the book to you and your smile
seemed to light up the whole room.

"joe.." you looked at me with those big brown eyes of yours. "do you have a girlfriend?"
alright, wow. i did not expect you to move so quick. i shook my head. you beamed. "alright, would you like to grab a coffee sometime?" you said, a little bit of worry in your voice. i think i waited a little bit too long, since you apologized to me, and almost left. i grabbed your arm before you turned, pulling you back.

"i- i would like that." i said. you smiled so bright. "alright!" you and me walked over to the register and i scanned the book. you handed me the bill, folded up, and you left.

as i unfolded the bill, a slit of paper fell out. i bent to get it and there it was, written on the paper.

your phone number. i wanted to scream, leap in the air, cry. this, this is the start of a strong relationship. i tucked the slit of paper into my jean pocket and put the bill into the register.

elizabeth came out of the back room, and sat in my counter seat. "so.. who was that?" she said, with a flirtatious tone. "a girl im interested in." i responded flatly. "is she as interesting as me?" i merely scoffed and tried to get away from her. honestly, shes like a bug that wont ever go away. i know shes a fresh out of college girl, but jesus, dont be going down on everyone you just meet.

im your boss, elizabeth!
