Cora

When I walked in the door at home, Blaine rushed over to kiss me and Kyle.  He took him from his car seat and held him.

"How did the visit go with Gray's parents?" He asked.

"Fine, they asked to stay in communication, but we made no plans for another one," I said.

"Let's get you settled and Kyle to bed." He said.

We did just that, and while he was in the shower, I quickly wrote a letter to Blaine telling him I'm pregnant.  I wasn't sure how to do it, I want to capture his reaction without having to speak.  I laid it on his pillow and sat back in bed until he came out wrapped in his towel, he saw it right away.

"What is this?" He asked with a smile on his face.

"Open it and find out," I said.

He did just that, and as he read it, a smile rose upon his face.  "Is this for real?  Cora, are you pregnant?" He asked, and I nodded yes.  It didn't take a moment for him to have me in his arms.

"This is amazing!" He held me, then pulled back and looked at my stomach.

"I can't believe it. I knew it would happen, but I don't think anything could have prepared me.  I love you so much, Cora." He said.

"I love you, too!" He kissed me and, once again, made love to me.

Over the next few weeks, I got very sick.  Blaine made every appointment with me, and I'm bloated even more this time around.  The doctor wanted to take a peek pretty early, so Blaine went with me to my appointment.

"It's a little early to know the sex quite yet." He said.

"That's fine, we decided not to find out until the baby is born," I said.

Blaine held my hand while the doctor searched for our little peanut with the ultrasound machine.  He finally found it and really studied what he was seeing.  He was quiet while he took measurements and we can hear a very fast heartbeat, but we weren't saying a word.

"Is everything okay?" I asked.

He turned the screen so I could get a very good look.  "Everything looks great, but I want you to look in this dark circle." He said, and Blaine leaned over to give it a better look.

"You only have one sack, but there are two fetuses.  Do either of you have twins in the family?" He asked, and I looked at Blaine.  He is as white as a ghost.  We both answered no and he started speaking again.

"They will be identical, the embryo split at some point.  Congratulations, you're definitely having twins." He said, but Blaine has that stone-cold look I haven't seen in a very long time.

"Will my wife be okay?  This just seems dangerous." He said, and now I see its just fear.

"She is healthy and women have twins all the time.  There are always risks with multiples, but I do expect a healthy pregnancy and delivery." He said.

Blaine was quite through the rest of the appointment.  When we got to the car and he took a deep breath, he looked over at me.  "I'm scared." He said.

"I will be fine, and so will the babies," I said, and he reached over to hold my hand.

"Cora, I don't know what I would do if I lost you." He said.

"You're not going to lose me, I will be fine," I said.

It took a few months for him to get excited.  A few blood tests and some ultrasounds later, he finally got excited.  I had to have my bridesmaids dress altered again because I'm already showing, and of course everyone knows about the twins.

We decorated another nursery, and I was glad once Eli and Jessica's wedding was over.  Now, I can concentrate on our children.

Blaine insisted I have the babies at the best hospital in New York.  He is afraid I won't have the care needed in Kentucky in case something happened.

I grew and grew, until the day came when I was thirty-seven weeks pregnant.  I went into labor and Blaine was a nervous wreck.  We were very lucky for a healthy delivery.  The highlight of the moment is when the doctor broke the news to Blaine that we just had two baby girls.  I just gave birth, but still laughed when I saw the look on his face.  I've never seen that kind of fear on someone, I think he almost passed out.

All that melted away when our blond, fuzzy-haired daughters were placed in his arms.  I watched as my husband once again fell in love.  Our daughters, Rose and Abigail, are healthy, just like our marriage.

My best friend may have lied to me, but she sent me on one hell of an adventure.  One that brought me to this moment that I will cherish as long as I live.
