Chapter 1

Melody's POV

"You can't possibly pick him as your favorite composer," Charlie says pressing his fingers on the keys, making a beautiful chord.

"I can, and I will." I say in defense.

I have been at Berklee for almost 2 months now. I was honestly terrified of being in such a big city without my friends and family, so I'm really glad I found people like Charlie. His friends keep to themselves, which I'm quite fond of.

"Hey losers." Paige says as she walks in.

"How much money did you get for it?" Charlie asks.

"900 dollars. Drinks are on me tonight." Paige says with a huge smile on her face.

"I can't believe you sold the ring." I say in complete shock.

"You owe me five bucks." Charlie says to me. 

"Yeah, yeah."

Paige's fiance Zeke, cheated on her after a 6 year relationship. I didn't know Paige when she was with Zeke. All I know is what Charlie has told me. It was pretty much a super toxic relationship and was doomed from the beginning.

"Did she do it?" Jordan asks as she walks in with Lisa and Lisa's boyfriend Jake.

"Yeah she did, so melody owes me 5 bucks." Charlie reminds me.

"You are not going to let this go, are you?" I ask.

"Nope." He says with a cheeky grin.

"So are we going to the bar or...." Jordan says.

Jordan is definitely the first one to go for a good time. She's got several tattoos and is very muscular.

"Of course." Paige says.

"I don't know about that. The only ones old enough to drink are Charlie and Paige," I say.

"Melody, you have to live a little." Lisa says taking Jake's hand.

"That's coming from one of the most innocent people I know," Jordan says making a gesture toward Lisa.

"Well, she's not too innocent," Jake says making us all laugh. Charlie was about to say something before Tara walks in.

"Hey Tara." Charlie greets Tara.

Tara is a very quiet girl with brown hair. I always think she doesn't like me. Charlie swears that she loves me, she's just so quiet.

I don't understand how she ended up in their group. Paige is so bold and funny. Jordan is the definition of badass. Charlie is talented and fearless. Lisa is the girl who keeps the group out of trouble, and Jake is that one friend that can't go an hour without making an inappropriate joke. Tara is nothing like any of them. She's so sweet and fragile.

"We are going to the bar tonight. Do you want to come?" Paige asks.

"No, I have a test in music theory tomorrow. Thank you though." She says.

"What time do we want to leave?" Jake asks.

"8:00 sounds good to me. We can grab some food on the way." Charlie suggests.

"Alright, we can all meet here at 8:00 then. " Lisa confirms.

We all leave Charlie's, and go back to our dorms to get ready for the night.

When I get to the dorm, my roommate Jess is sitting on her bed playing the guitar. She looks up, then immediately goes back to playing the guitar. Jess and I have never gotten along. I begin to think about the first time I met her.
