Carmen POV

"Whatchya doing, Carm?"

I glanced away from my phone to Zack, who was setting up a Monopoly board on the table of his and Ivy's room.

"Looking over the plane tickets that Player booked for you two."

Ivy popped her head around the corner. "You two? You're staying?"

I blinked, suddenly aware of how awkward this could get if I didn't word it right. Nodding, I said, "VILE is taking a break, so I'll be in Australia for a bit, on... kind of personal business. But I know that you guys were getting a bit fed-up with being away from home."

Zack cocked his head. "And when, exactly, were you going to tell us about this?"

I stopped and looked at him, confused. "I did."

He shared a look with Ivy.

"Guys, I did. Like, two days ago!"

Ivy shrugged, not meeting my eyes. "Well I guess that we forgot," she mumbled.

"Thanks for getting us a plane, anyway," Zack said, going back to Monopoly.

"I..." I looked at both of them, guilt trying to claw over my stomach. I sighed. "Yeah. No problem." I went back to my phone, which in fact did not have the plane ticket information pulled up. Sure, I had looked over them earlier, so I hadn't told a complete lie, but I didn't need to tell Ivy and Zack about the ticket I was actually buying.

I guess this type of stuff happens when you're dating someone.

After finishing my purchase, texting Gray was the next step.

Me: You work on Friday, right?

It took him a few minutes to respond.

Gray: Yeah

Me: Perfect

I had known that already, of course. But now Gray would notice that something was up. I occasionally enjoyed leaving him in suspense, and I wasn't going to hint at anything until Friday morning, if I did at all.

It was going to be a fun surprise for him.

"Kay, I'm done," Zack informed, patting the seat next to his for Ivy to sit. "Come on, Sis. Bet I'll win this time!"

"Ha ha, very funny." Ivy rolled her eyes and sat, passing money out as I tucked my phone away. "You forgot, Bro. Carm is a literal super thief, and this-" She motioned to the game board, then threw her hands in the air, exasperated. "is the Cheaters Edition!"

Zack's eyes widened as he took in the black board. "Oh, yeah. I did forget that, huh?"

I gave a wicked smile and clapped my hands. "Let's play! Who want's to go first?"

Zack shrugged, looking guilty, and gave a sheepish smile. "Whoops," he muttered.

Ivy punched him.
