CHAPTER TEN,
constable aiden.

Aiden and the rest of the group were told they could explore so that's what they did. Daryl had stayed at the house but he didn't want Aiden to go alone. He asked Noah to go with her.

"This place. It reminds me of my home." Noah said suddenly.

"I'm sorry. About your home, by the way." Aiden mumbled. Her eyes shifted from house to house. "These houses are fuckin' huge."

"They're like mansions." Noah agreed, "they have dogs here. What the hell?"

"Yeah, I can't deal to see a dog after eating one." Aiden said while shaking her head. "Hey, someone's walking up to us."

Noah and her's guard was immediately up when a man approached them, "shit," Noah mumbled.

"Hey," the man said to the two of them.

"Um, hi?" Aiden asked cautiously. The man laughed.

"I get it. You're nervous. I'm Pete." He stick his hand out. Noah shook it but Aiden didn't.

"So, you're the 'gifted surgeon' Aaron was telling me about?" Noah asked him. He nodded.

"I sure am. Only one they've got here. Other than Denise but she doesn't really help much." Pete said, "I got a wife and two kids. How bout y'all?"

"Nah." Noah shook his head.

"I got a husband and a kid on the way." Aiden stated.

"Well, I don't know much about labor and delivery but-"

"I do. My mom was a labor and delivery nurse. Hell, if we were still out there I could deliver this baby by myself with the help of a few people." Aiden said. Pete nodded.

"Well, it was nice to meet you two. Now, I need to head back to the infirmary. Come by sometime for a check-up." Pete said. The two nodded and he walked off.

"He seemed okay." Noah said.

"I don't like his vibes." Aiden retorted, her brown eyes following the man.

Aiden sat on the porch with Daryl, "this place... it's- it's weird."

"What do you mean by weird?" Daryl asked her.

"It's just- we haven't had a place in so long. It just feels like we're meant to be here." Aiden replied. Daryl furrowed his eyebrows at her, "ya know, Carl told me the other kids had video games? Video games, Daryl!"

Daryl shrugged, "it's just video games."

"In the middle of the apocalypse! It's so weird." She said, "Noah, Glenn, Nathaniel, and Tara are going on a run."

"Today?" Daryl asked her gruffly.

"It's what Maggie told me." She replied, "she said that Deanna's son, Aiden and the guy from the gate are taking them out.
