Everyone has a choice, a defining moment that determines the course of their life, and for some, the course of history. Inigo Einar's
moment wasn't really a choice at all, but rather the result of something otherworldly and terrible. The night his family was slaughtered would forever haunt him. He couldn't dispel the sight of the creature composed of pure darkness as it ripped his parents limb from limb. By what some might call a miracle, Inigo alone was spared.

The people of Temeria were no stranger to magic, but none had ever seen or heard of a shadow creature and certainly not one that could inflict such damage on a living being. Inigo's pleas for aid were left unanswered and his testimony brushed aside as the hysterical delusions of a child. It was then that Inigo set upon his path and vowed to hunt the creature that murdered his family and bring it to justice by his own blade.

Sixteen years later, he was no closer to the revenge he so craved. He'd chased after every whisper and shadow, but the demon of his past disappeared like smoke in the night. Inigo had grown to be a lone wolf, a hunter. He found himself in the business of monster killing and was one of the best. It was only a matter of time before he crossed paths with a Witcher. Geralt of Rivia stole a kill right from under his nose. Worst of all, he somehow managed to pawn off his ever chatty bard onto him.

Jaskier could only be described as a royal pain in Inigo's ass. Somehow, no matter how hard he tried to get rid of him, Jaskier stuck. But as rumors begin to circulate of a spectral assassin targeting high ranking officials in neighboring kingdoms, things become far deadlier than either anticipated. Not only is Inigo's past coming back to haunt him, but a new threat rises in the form of Nilfguard, and these things may be more connected than he first thought. With Jaskier by his side and in his hair, Inigo must avenge his family and stop the rising evil from spreading through the lands.
