Kris came bounding up the stairs to her apartment sounding like a heard of elephants in a stampede. When she reached the top, she came to a stop and slowly peaked around the corner. Kate was standing with her back against Kris' door, looking down at her iPhone. Kris took a deep breath before rounding the corner into the hallway. When Kate heard footsteps approaching, she whipped her head up. Ever the detective flashed through Kris' mind right before Kate leveled her with a glare that could melt ice.
"What's up?" Kris greeted her sister casually.
"It's about damn time you got here." Kate snapped her reply.
"Well, hello to you too." Kris said as she opened her apartment door. "Anybody ever tell you that you need to work on your demeanor?"
"Only you, considering you're the only one that can rile me up this much." Kate grumbled as she followed her sister inside.
"Me and anybody you go up against in the box." Kris deadpanned.
"Well, that's usually because those people tend to lie to me." Kate said as she took a seat on the couch while Kris headed down the hallway.
"Yeah, yeah. You think you're such a badass." Kris mumbled as she reached the door to her room.
"I heard that." Kate snapped. "And for your information, I am a badass!" She yelled down the hall after her sister.
Kris simply answered by showing Kate her middle finger before she disappeared into her bedroom to change clothes. Grabbing a clean pair of jeans and a white Batman t-shirt, then digging some clean underwear out from her drawer, she quickly changed and threw her hair up into a messy ponytail then pulled on her favorite black combat boots.
When Kris came back into the living room, Kate was flipping through the latest issue of Game Informer. Kris grabbed two waters from the fridge and a bag of Doritos from the cabinet then joined Kate on the couch. Kate finally looked up from the magazine when Kris shoved a handful of chips in her mouth.
"What?" Kris mumbled through a mouthful of chips.
"You're disgusting. And really, Doritos for breakfast?" Kate sneered.
"I didn't have time to eat." Kris shrugged before shoving another handful in her mouth.
"Oh, that's right. You were too busy with Russo to do anything else." Kate rolled her eyes.
"Oh stuff it. How many times have you skipped a meal due to your horizontal activities with Castle?" Kris shot back.
"Point taken." Kate replied with a grin. "Anyway, hurry up so we can leave. We have to meet everyone in half an hour."
"Ya know, if you weren't my sister and I wasn't afraid of you causing me bodily harm, I would totally fake an illness or mental breakdown to get out of this." Kris grumbled as she took a drink of water.
"Well, you are my sister and I would cause you tremendous bodily harm so your stuck. You'll get over it. It won't be as bad as you're making it out to be." Kate replied as she grabbed some chips from the bag before Kris got off the couch.
"You're right, it's going to be worse." Kris snapped, heading back to the kitchen to put the chips away.
"Shut up and put your big girl panties on." Kate replied as she stood from the couch and headed for the front door. "Come on. I don't want to be late or we'll have the wrath of Martha Rodgers to deal with."
"Yippee." Kris deadpanned as she shrugged into her green military jacket and followed Kate out the door.
When Kris and Kate pulled up in front of the spa almost thirty minutes later, Kris was still complaining. Martha, Alexis and Lanie were all waiting for them on the sidewalk and Kris didn't miss the huge smile plastered across Martha's face.
