chapter 48:
▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄her eyes widen when she reaches the table she was ushered to. there, seated among her parents and two other adults she recognised as his parents, was someone she had least expected.
he notices her look of astonishment, giving her a sad smile as she sits down on the empty seat next to him. "ah, jihyun! it's nice to finally meet you! what a gorgeous young lady you are!" his mother exclaims and jihyun only replies with a smile, thanking her.
"you're the one i'll be marrying?" she whispers when she sees the parents have started to discuss about the marriage as soon as she sat down. "i bet you're wondering how it's me that you have to marry. i'm sorry i didn't tell you guys but my parents own a business too. not as big as your parents' or san's, that's why this was a shocking news to me too. and i'm so sorry it's me," yeosang apologises, as if it was his fault.
"n–no, don't apologise. i–i'm just a bit surprised, that's all." she tells him but the disappointment laced in her tone wasn't hard to miss. he knew jihyun had already gotten over him but he couldn't help be a little selfish this time. he still loves her.
"ah, great! the children seem to be getting along pretty well," mr park states happily. jihyun wanted to roll her eyes at him but decided not to. the only reason he's happy is because with them getting along easily, it's going to be easier to come to an agreement regarding the marriage.
the kang enterprise was initially only mr park's plan b. he had originally planned jihyun's marriage to be with the son of choi corporations but they ended up calling it off last minute so he contacted mr kang quickly.
thankfully the man agreed but wanted the children to meet first. and if his son agrees with the marriage, he'll accept it but if not, he won't. it all depends on his son, really. he always respects and takes into consideration his son's decisions.
-
"are you fucking kidding me?" san hollered as he stormed into the music room where all his friends –except jihyun who had walked out of class for lunch with him– were at. while they made their way to the music room, jihyun had told san that it was yeosang, the person she'll be marrying. she didn't expect him to be furious with that fact. she didn't understand how it was yeosang's fault in any way.
the boys looked at the angry boy in confusion. they looked at him quizzically, only then realising that he had his gaze stuck on one person in particular. kang yeosang.
"w–what's up, dude?" yeosang was terrified to see san like this. the last time he had been this way was the argument between him and jihyun a few months back. san walks closer, glaring at yeosang as the boys cowered in fear.
"you're the one jihyun will be marrying?" he spits venomously, looking down at yeosang who was sitting on the floor. jihyun looks at him in shock, pulling him back by his arm, seeing how close he's standing infront of yeosang. yeosang is quick to stand up, standing face to face infront of the boy.
"woah dude, chill. you know it's an arranged marriage, right? i wouldn't specifically ask my dad to arrange a marriage for me with her." he responds, pushing san back by his shoulders when he sees him getting way too close for his comfort.
"oh, yeah? you think i don't know how your parents are? you think i don't know how your dad doesn't make decisions for you? dude, i know he's not the type to control your life. you're just taking advantage of this whole arranged marriage situation," san accuses. the boys remained silent, not wanting to interfere whatever that is going on.
san didn't even let yeosang explain, continuing to lash out at the boy. "i know that if you were to tell him you don't want to, he'd listen to you but this marriage is still gonna happen, right? you didn't even try to stop him from agreeing, did you? you knew that that was the only way you'd win against me. get over it dude, jihyun moved on and so should you." he snarled. he had waited so long for jihyun and he wasn't going to lose her for something he knew could be changed. the whole marriage is dependent on yeosang's decision.
"so what i can get him to change his mind? he listens to me all the time and if i don't disagree then well sucks to be you because i'll be married to jihyun whether you like it or not," he scoffs, finally talking back to san.
and that was when san snapped. yeosang's smug expression was immediately wiped off when san swung at him, throwing a harsh punch straight to his face. the boys were alarmed, immediately standing up but they were a second too late when yeosang retaliated, almost immediately after regaining his balance.
"fucker," yeosang hisses as he swiftly punches san in the gut. a groan escapes the latter's lips as he stumbled back, toppling down a few music stands along with him when he fell down to the ground.
san gets up, fury radiating off of his whole being. "she's over you, fucking get it through your thick skull," he growls, advancing towards yeosang but the older isn't intimidated. instead, he provoked san even more. "sorry to break to you but i'm the one marrying her." he flashes a sinister smile, one that made san want to wipe it off his face once again.
the boys stood still, cautious in case any one of them start attacking the other again. and they were right. the two boys started tackling each other, the other boys failing when they try to pry them off of each other. the two kept going on, yelling at each other about who deserved jihyun more.
it was only after a few more punches to each other that the boys managed to get them off of each other, san and yeosang both breathing heavily, the metallic taste of blood present in their mouth.
"where's jihyun?" san looks around the room, wiping the blood off his lips with his sleeve. yeosang looks around too, only now noticing the girl had long been gone. "thanks to you two idiots, she's gone now. she ran away but you two were so caught up on claiming her, you guys didn't even hear her screaming at you two to stop!" wooyoung bursts out, frustrated about the whole situation.
"now if you'll excuse us, we're off to go find her. if you two are just gonna keep fighting over her like she's some kind of object, then don't even bother." jongho states coldly, walking out of the music room, the other boys following.
