Colt
The first week of training camp was finally over and I was going to get to see my girls. "So, I will see your beautiful faces in an hour then?" I verified with Callie as I tied my shoe.
"Um... Yep. How was training today?" She hesitated, but I didn't pay attention to it. I heard her rustling with something. She was probably loading up the car. I made a note to tell her to leave things at my place so she didn't have to pack every time they came to see me.
"It was fine. I will tell you about it later," I told her, standing up from the bench I had been sitting on. I stood in front of my locker. "I'm going to head home and I will see you two there soon."
"Okay, Maddy's wants to talk to you first," she told me. I nodded my head and waited.
"Daddy?" I heard Maddy greet me.
"Hi, Giggles. Are you helping Momma get ready? I can't wait to see you."
"Yep. Will we play?" She asked.
"Of course, we will play. We have the whole weekend," I told her with a little chuckle.
"Okay, bye love you!" She yelled, making me move the phone from my ear. I laughed when I heard Callie tell her to stop yelling.
"Bye, Giggles." I hung up the phone and nodded my head toward two guys as they walked into the locker room.
Tad was a rookie like me, but Jarome had been on the team a few years now. He had taken some of us under his wing. "Hey man, you coming out with us tonight? This is the last chance. Next week camp gets really crazy and we aren't allowed to drink." Tad was always telling us about his drunken nights out. He was wilder than most of the people at my college put together. I shook my head.
"Can't. My girl and daughter are coming for the weekend," I told them slipping my wallet into my pocket.
"Oh, gettin some," Tad nodded, "I get it. Totally understandable. Your girl got any friends?" Jarome and I laughed.
"Not many mostly my married cousin, sorry, Bro," I told him.
"Bring your girl with you. Liz is coming, she hardly ever gets out during the season so I always bring her when I can," Jarome told me.
"We don't exactly have a babysitter or anything."
"How old is your little girl?" He asked as he got dressed.
"Almost 4," I answered. Jerome pulled his shirt over his head and nodded.
"That's perfect. Same age as mine. Bring her over and our nanny will watch her too. She is great with kids, I swear." I grabbed my car keys from the hook in my locker. I needed to get home.
"I will talk to Callie when I get home. See what she wants to do. I'll text you later?" I said as I walked toward the door.
"Trust me, you don't want to miss a night out with the Tad," Tad shouted my direction causing me and Jerome to laugh again.
"I'll send you my address," Jerome told me. I nodded and left.
I pulled into my driveway, I saw Callie and Maddy standing at the door. I smiled. I should have known that she was lying with her hesitation earlier, but I didn't really care. I jumped out of my car and heard them giggling with each other.
"What's all the giggling about?" I asked them as I walked up the steps to the front door. They both stopped laughing and turned to look at me.
"Daddy!" Maddy threw herself into my arms.
