Callie
We stopped in front of a gate beside a call box. Colt pushed the button and turned to me with a smile when I placed my hand on his thigh. "Are you sure I look okay?" I asked him. He sighed.
"Yes, Callie. My beautiful Gummy Bear, you look amazing." I had asked him at least five times before we left his house if the navy frill layered romper, I had chosen looked okay. It was the nicest thing I had brought for the weekend just in case, Colt decided he wanted me kind of dressed up.
"Come on in," we heard a man I guessed was Jarome, say through the speaker. We watched the gates open and I turned to look in the back seat at Maddy.
"Ready to make a new friend?" I asked her. She nodded and clapped her hands. "Maddy, please remember not to run in the house," I groaned when I realized how excited she was. "Are you sure I look okay? I don't want to embarrass you in front of your friends," I asked Colt again. The look he gave me as he put the car in park, told me that he was getting annoyed with my repeated question. He reached for my hand with both us his pulling it to his lips.
"You could never embarrass me. You're perfect," he kissed my hand. I smiled and felt a little blush starting. "Although," he looked at my face and I felt pure panic shoot through me. "You may have added a little too much blush," he laughed. I quickly turned, pulling down the sun visor in front of me to look at my face while he laughed harder. I finally realized what he meant by his joke and gave him a glare. I slapped him on the arm and opened my door. "I'm sorry, Callie. Just hold on," he turned to look at Maddy in the back seat. "You always make sure a boy opens your door," he told her causing me to laugh and hold up my hands.
He came around to the passenger's side and offered me his hand, which I took before opening Maddy's door and helped her out. "My two girls," he beamed. He pulled me closer to him by the hand moving his lips to my ear, "you really do look perfect. I swear," he whispered and took Maddy's hand walking us to the door.
When the door opened, we were met with a man that was the same height as Colt but had a bigger build than him. His chocolate brown eyes matched his skin color. "Please, come in," he said, moving to stand beside the door so that we could enter. I followed Colt through the door with my hand holding Maddy's. "I'm Jarome," he introduced himself when he had shut the door behind us.
"Callie," I shook his hand.
"Jarome, who is it?" A woman's voice met us before she came around the corner behind Jarome.
"Colt and his family."
"Oh good!" She said with a smile. I laughed a little when she gently shoved him out of the way. "I'm Liz," she grabbed my hand and shook it. I laughed and introduced myself. "I'm so excited to meet you both," she offered her hand to Colt who shook it. "Cleo! Ramona!" She called. Not a few seconds later, I heard giggling and a little girl that looked to be around the same age as Maddy, came around the corner.
"Hi," the girl shouted. She stopped in front of Maddy and we all watched. "I'm Cloe," she yelled at Maddy. I laughed seeing Jarome and Liz cringe when she did so.
"I'm Maddy! Are you my new friend?" She asked, looking at me. I nodded my head. "I'm almost four," she told Cleo.
"Me too! Cleo shouted again.
"Cleo, please stop shouting," Liz groaned. It was obvious by the sound of her voice that this was asked by her as often as I asked Maddy to stop running. "I'm sorry. We can't ever seem to get her to stop with the yelling."
"I completely understand," I told her. "We won't be running in the house tonight, right, Maddy?" I looked down at her as I repeated what I had already asked her in the car. She nodded her head and looked at the floor.
