My eyes shot open. Where was I? I thought as I lay on my side, staring ahead at the lamp sitting on an unfamiliar nightstand beside the bed. I tried sitting up but realized that my stomach was completely wrapped up by a man with smooth, almond-colored skin. He was so warm, the top of my head resting in between his razor-sharp jaw and neck, near his throat. I could feel his slow breathing pattern, with every, exhale his chest would press against my neck then draw away with his inhale. I slowly slid my hand to grab his wrist and lift his arm up, slowly lowered my head away from his throat and used the silk, ocean-blue, sheets to swim towards the side of the bed, then gently set his arm on the silky sheets. Having being free from his warm embrace, I swung my legs off the edge of the bed and began using my hands to comb my long black hair. The back of my large redshirt, that read Su Fan Numero Uno (His No. 1 Fan), a hand me down from my mother about my father, faced the almond-colored man as it draped over my slim body- attempting to balance it's arm sleeves on my shoulders. I turned around and admired the young man that had me in his warm arms. I slowly remembered the events that occurred before:

It was Monday, about 3 o'clock in the afternoon and I was walking from one of my afternoon classes towards my dorm with my roommate slash best friend, Sylvia. She asked me if I was free, on Friday to see if I wanted to go to the spa with her before she went out later that night with her boyfriend, Kenyon. I just looked away at the ground and replied with a sure. "We need to find you a man," she said. "You're too damn pretty to be single like this." I hadn't quite gave her an answer just a smile and tiny nod to let her know I was listening and she just looked me up and down, giggling. "Hell, if I hadn't had a boy friend, we'd be married by now. Hold on wait a minute." We were near our dorm's building as she handed me her notebook and began to pick up her pace, sprinting into what appeared to be two dark brown, muscular arms sprouting from a tall, dark, and handsome young man facing us. "Yonnie!" Sylvia yelled as she leaped into his arms to hug him. I managed to catch up with her and the young man which, of course, was her boyfriend, Kenyon. It didn't take too long after he put her down, to notice that he was with this very handsome brown-skinned young man, like there was an almond complexion to his skin tone. I normally would say hey and be very comfortable talking, but it was just different because this young man, pleasing to the eye, was with him. Butterflies began to fill my stomach, I was nervously waiting to be introduced to this young man. Sylvia asked Kenyon what they were about to do and he told her they were getting ready to play some basketball but he wanted to see her first. Then, Kenyon said, "Where's my manners? This is my childhood friend, Anthony, from my old neighborhood. He just got out of a relationship."
As Anthony shook my best friend's hand, she pulled her hand and grabbed my hand towards his and said, "This is my best friend. She's been single all her life." My palms being sweaty from being nervous, I adjusted Sylvia notebook as well as my books to one arm and cautiously grabbed his warm smooth hand and shook it. I nervously smiled, "It's nice to meet you." To my surprise, before I let go of his hand, he slowly lifted my hand to his lips and gently pressed his soft lips against the back my hand and kissed it and said, "Its very nice to meet you." I looked away as to act like something else caught my attention just to make sure this guy didn't see how big my smile was.
Suddenly Sylvia asked the young man what he was doing on Friday and he said he wasn't doing anything. She nodded, looked at me, then at me, and said okay. She the turned to Kenyon, got close to him as if she was telling him something, then pecked a kiss on his lips, winked at him, then told him that she would see him on Friday. Kenyon winked back and said, with exaggeration, that it sounded like a plan.
Friday seemed to come faster than expected and as mentioned, we were at the spa. When we went to the spa, we usually would just[...] but today she seemed to be in a spending mood, telling the ladies who work at the spa that she wanted both of our nails, eyebrows, make-up, and hair done. Everytime, I stopped to ask her why she was spending so much on me as . She would either reply with you're my best friend and we have to be on the same page or she would say that Kenyon is paying for the date. After so long, I just stopped asking and enjoyed myself.
