Confrontation

{Watari's point of view }

I couldn't believe what I had just witnessed.  I continued to play the recordings over and over again.  I always knew Lawliet was a little different to everybody else - but to fall In love with the man behind all of the recent mass murders is just preposterous.
I wrack my brains for any kind of reassuring explanation for L's madness as I begin to lose myself to denial. Then I realised; it must be part of his plan to make Light confess!
I slam my clenched fist into my other open palm at my eureka moment and copy the recording onto an external drive before deleting the computers trace of it - I cant have anybody else finding out about this.  I take the disk and stalk out of my control room,  making my way to Lawliet's floor. 
Despite my height,  I manage to creep through the building without arousing any attention to myself. Good.  I soon find myself at the man-in-question's door, I hesitate for a few moments before tapping the back of my hand against the door,  announcing my presence to the men inside.  I could hear the two scramble out of the bath tub and frantically search for their clothes.
"One moment please" I heard L call with an expressionless tone.
I tutted impatiently and pulled out my universal key to the building.

{L's point of view }

I froze the moment I heard a key click into my door.  I darted a look of panic at Light who seemed oblivious to danger lurking behind him.  My eyes then refocused on the opening door, waiting to recognise the figue who emerged. "Light!" I exclaimed in a hushed whisper, praying it was loud enough to reach him but not loud enough for the intruder to pick up on it. He jumped at the panic in my voice and tilted his head in confusion as he look at me - I pointed to the door in response. His eyes widened as he grabbed the remaining clothes and hid in the bathroom, closing the door quietly behind him.  I exhaled heavily and finished pulling my white top over my head as I made my way to the door, which finally creeped open just as I was about the grasp the handle. I froze again, my gaze still whee the doorknob should be. I tried to work out who was standing next to me without raising my head. I re-adjusted my eyes to notice an external hard drive help with a firm grip. Connect to that grip, a well fitted black blazer. My eyes trailed up their arm, noting the height difference between the two of us. Eventually I reached his face, his bushy, grey moustache caught by eye first. Then the penny dropped. Watari.

"Ah Watari, what a suprise it is to see you..." I mutter as calmy and normally as possible.

"Yes, well... I needed to speak with you. Without Light, if possible?" He returned with a smile.

I must have been noticeably shocked as Watari gave me a confused look as he waited patiently. I sighed, knowing there was no fooling him. I figured he'd know if I were lying, he was my guardian as I grew up. He probably knows me better than I know myself.

"Yagami! Time for you to go. See if your father has made any more progress on the case!" I call out.

It took a while for him to summon the courage to leave the bathroom. He didn't say a word as he left, just nodded  to the two of us and shot a nervous glare at me. I tried to give him a reasuring smile in response but I doubt it was obvious enough for him to notice as I tried to avoid Watari's attention. I knew the following discussion probably had something to do with me and Light, there's no hiding anything from Watari.

We both made our way to the small table set in my room and sat down opposite eachother without saying a word. I asked Watari why he had come and he simply blanked me before getting up again. He opened my laptop and plugged the hard drive he had been holding into the USB port. He then proceeded to open the latest file copied on to it.

I scanned the loading screen, hoping to find some clue as to the videos contents in the file name or something. With my search being unfulfilled I slumped back into my chair and hugged my knees tightly, trying to be as patient as I could. After what seemed like hours, the video finally loaded. I immediately identified the location as my own bathroom and I felt my heart begin to race.

I watched in shock as I heard myself mumbling "Dont go... join me..." on the recording. I began to retrace all of what we had said and done these past few hours, mentally scolding myself for being so careless. The recording finally stopped playing and Watari silently shut down the laptop.

"Well?..."
He questioned me, an expectant look on his face.

{Watari's Point of View}

I scanned the young man's face, I've known him so long - it would be easy for me to know if he's lying and i'm sure he is aware of that. I watch as he shuffles around in his seat uncomfortably, something doesn't seem right. Perhaps the onclusion i'd drawn wasn't as accurate as  I washoping for it to be...

I gestured my hand forward to try and speed him along in his confession. His response made me regret questioning him at all.

"Well... Light and I are in love..." He squeaked. He was avoiding making any eye contact with me but despite this I was able to tell he was being truthful. I took a moment to compose myself before asking my next question... The video implied that Light had confessed to being Kira, so I asked Lawliet for confirmation of this. He flinched and nodded silently.

"L, this is very serious. We must alert the authorities at once and have him executed!" I exclaim, trying my hardest to keep my voice down.

"NO!" he screamed back. "We have to protect him! I love him Watari, I believe there is a chance that he loves me too and will stop all the killing if I ask him to!"

I felt my body tense up, there was no way Light would get away with this so easily and if that meant L was going down with him... then so be it.

I'm so sorry, I know  I keep taking way too long to update this D:
But WOW 5.5k reads?! Thank you all so much! I'm hoping to get this story finished in maybe 2 more chapters so you won't have to keep waiting for me to update for much longer hehe ^_^
