"I'm tellin y'all it was so much blood in that room I just had to walk out before I passed out"
"So you just let the lady bleed herself" I asked Aliyah and she shook her head
"No. I was in there with Dr Wright. She took over. And she was so calm with it"
"Sometimes I wonder how nursing became your dream job"
"Girl I ask myself that too"
"Aliyah" a male's voice called out. We both turned and saw Khalil, another coworker of ours, walking over to us. Khalil was gone for about a week on vacation and today must've been his first day back. He handed Aliyah a clipboard "yo people in 330 need you"
"Oh that's the cute boy I was tellin you about"
"The one that's in here cause of his crazy ass girlfriend?"
She nodded and happily walked off to go to his room. I looked back at her and laughed before looking at Khalil again
"So.. how was vacation?"
"Hell" He bluntly answered, sitting down in one of the chairs
"Well I was looking for a better answer than that"
"That's the best it can be fuckin with my people. I spent hella money to take my people on a nice ass cruise and they spent the whole week fighting. You can't ever do shit for black people"
"Oh trust me. I know"
"So how was your 4th?"
"Hectic. This hospital was packed as hell all day yesterday"
Khalil knitted his eyebrows together "I thought you was supposed to get off early yesterday?"
"I ended up staying late. Worked 14 hours yesterday"
"Hell no. Yo ass need a break or some"
"I'll be fine. I'm off Saturday"
"And you still gone be runnin around. I see you hustlin and shit, but you need a break. All you do is work"
"What's wrong with that?"
"A lot. Shit, I should've made you take off and come on that cruise wimme"
"As nice as that sounds, I'd rather be here than see yo people fight on a boat in the middle of the ocean. Ion wanna witness nobody being thrown overboard"
Khalil chuckled and Dr Wright walked over to us
"Dakota. You can let Mr Gaulden know that he's being released tomorrow"
"Okay. It's about time I check on him anyways. I let him sleep for a couple hours" I checked my watch and picked up his folder
"I heard you're the only nurse he ain't givin a hard time" Dr Wright said with a grin. I ran my tongue across my teeth to keep from laughing
"Y'all so dramatic. I'm just good at my job. The people love me"
"I bet so" Khalil muttered with amusement. I stuck my finger up at him and he bit his lip while sitting back in his chair
"When?"
"Bye Khalil" I laughed and walked off, going to Kentrell's room. I knocked then opened the door going inside. When I walked in, Kentrell had just walked out of the bathroom going back over to the bed
"I see you up and movin around"
"Came in here a lil bit earlier you would've saw a lot more than that" he told me while he carefully sat back down on the bed
