"Wow that's crazy" my new roommate Jhene said as I told her about Dakota and what's been going on as we went furniture shopping
"Who you tellin. Family ain even real nomore. And she told me I gave her my ass to kiss but I was the one paying the bills while she was gone"
"Well in all fairness Sheana" Jhene laughed a little "you were still staying there even if she wasn't so it makes sense for you to pay the bills"
I let out a sigh and heard the sound of the bell meaning somebody else walked into the furniture store. Jhene started smiling as she looked at the entrance
"There goes my cousin!"
I followed her eyes and saw a really pretty lightskin girl, a fairly large forehead but long pretty hair, stopping at her midback. She smiled while walking over to us and eventually met Jhene with a hug
"What time did you come in?"
"I got here around 10 this morning. And I'm here till Monday so we lit all week"
"That's wassup" Jhene responded before stepping back from her "this is my friend Sheana. The girl I'm gonna be rooming with. Sheana this is my cousin Anna. She's from Virgina"
"Hey" she smiled and stuck out her hand so I shook it
"This your first time out here or..?" I asked and she nodded
"Yeah. I'm out here while my boyfriends gone for the week to Hawaii to see his dad"
"Hawaii? You passed up Hawaii for Baton Rouge?!" I asked her and she nodded with a laugh
"He goes every month so trust me, I've been there more than enough times. It actually gets old"
"I'll take Hawaii over here any day. My cousin Dakota was actually out there not too long ago. She stayed for a couple of months"
When I said Dakota's name she knitted her brows together
"Dakota? I think her last name starts with a g.. green or something?"
"Yeah. How you know her?" I asked and Jhene just awkwardly looked
"I met her when I was in Hawaii. We talked a couple of times but she mainly liked to entertain my boyfriend Shakeem"
"Shakeem? I feel like I heard her say that name before"
"Can I get some assistance over here. I wanna know about this sectional right here" Jhene called out to the associates at the front while walking over to a sectional leaving me and Anna alone. Anna crossed her arms
"No offense to you. But honestly I don't really care for your cousin. She just seems real sneaky to me."
"Whatchu mean by sneaky?"
"She seemed too interested in Shakeem. And I went through his phone a while back and I really feel like it was her he's been texting and if so, I know they been fucking around the times that I didn't go to Hawaii with him"
"I would say that don't sound like my cousin but unfortunately, I don't know what to believe with her anymore"
Anna looked around for a second then looked at me again "she's still in Hawaii ain it? That's probably why he was so ready to go back"
"No she came home last month. But I would ask him about it cause like I said, Dakota been a lil... ion know how to describe it"
"If I ask Shakeem he ain gone tell me the truth.... Dakota live out here right?"
