Not being able to sleep at all last night but 3 hours, I was beyond tired today and I overslept causing me to come in only 15 minutes late
I let out a yawn while I dug into my pocket, grabbing a dollar and stuck it in the machine getting a monster energy
"Good morning"
I turned around and saw Kennedy walking in with Aliyah holding a box of doughnuts.
"Morning" I responded while grabbing the monster and turned to face them. Aliyah's smile went away
"Why you don't look happy?"
"Why do you look happy?"
Kennedy opened the box of doughnuts "want one?"
I grabbed one of the glazed doughnuts and took a bite out of it
"I just wanna go to bed right now"
"Listen I only got an hour of sleep and I'm feeling fine. Just keep eating these and you good"
"Ima need 2 boxes"
They both laughed and the door opened. Jaylin, one of the newer girls, walked in looking like she was over the day already
"You need a doughnut too?" Kennedy asked her and she shook her head
"No. I'm going HOME. I been here all night and it got even more packed once y'all left. Then I had to work that rude ass boy in room 334" she huffed while taking her ponytail out and Kennedy laughed
"That's Dakota's boy"
Jaylin looked at me while sitting down "good luck. Every other word that came out his mouth was a curse word and if he wasn't calling somebody a bitch he was being picky"
"Oh I love this job" I sarcastically sighed while grabbing my stethoscope out of my locker and put it around my neck before finishing my doughnut and drank some of my monster "when was the last time you checked on him?"
"About 2 and a half hours ago. I just couldn't deal nomore. And plus I was ready to go"
"Go check on your friend" Kennedy patted my shoulder and I sucked my teeth, drinking from my can again while walking out the break room
Unlike last night everything was more calm but it was still a little busy from the aftermath of yesterday. As I headed to the elevators I walked past a couple that were heading out the door with a car seat carrying a newborn baby
"Congratulations" I told them with a smile and they both returned one back
"Thank you" the woman spoke before being pushed away in her wheelchair. I caught the elevator and pressed the button to the third floor
"It's about to be a long day" I sighed. Once the elevator doors opened I stepped off and headed straight to the nurses hub, tossing my drink can in the trash and went to the room. I grabbed the clipboard attached to the door, slowly opened the door and turned on the lights, hearing the tv change channels.
"Good morning Mr Gaulden"
"Kentrell" He corrected me as he looked over at me, staring me up and down before focusing on the tv again "Look like a big ass grape" he referred to the purple scrubs I wore. I frowned and looked down at my outfit
"You really know how to make somebody's morning huh?"
He chuckled a little while I looked at the information Jaylin wrote down during her shift
