"Good afternoon Mr Gavins, I'm Dakota and I'll be your nurse during the day" I told the guy as I walked into his room getting ready to check his vitals. Once I made eye contact with him I stopped
"Do I know you?"
"Ion know" the guy answered before finally looking at me and licked his lips "Nah you do look familiar as hell though"
"Were you ever a patient of mine before"
"Nah, I would've remembered you..."
I caught his eyes traveling up and down my body while I grabbed a pair of gloves and put them on
"You gotta daughter or some? I feel like I seen you with a lil girl"
"I gotta niece. And now that you said that, I think it was at ihop or something when I saw you"
"Probably"
"Yeah, cause you looked at me the same way you looking now" I laughed while taking the stethoscope from around my neck and put them on
"I mean you fine as hell so you know ima look"
"Thank you for the compliment, but I don't think my boyfriend would like that"
He laughed before I pressed the stethoscope to his chest
"How long y'all been together?"
"A while.. and before you ask, YES I'm very happy"
"How you knew I was gone ask that?"
"Wild guess" I joked while putting my stethoscope back around my neck and wrote on his chart before getting ready to take his blood pressure
"How come ion ever see you around?"
"Cause I'm always here at work" I strapped the blood pressure band on his arm and started the machine. While it started I went ahead and took his temperature and wrote everything down feeling him stare at me again
"Aye, if yo nigga start acting up. Hit my line. I'll show you how you 'posed to be treated. Ight?"
I laughed and walked over to the machine a it stopped. While unstrapping the band off his arm I looked at him
"To make you feel better, I'll keep that in mind"
"I'm deadass though."
"Okay.." I laughed and took my gloves off. "I'll be back in about an hour to check on you, okay?"
"Ight"
I grabbed the stuff and left his room to go back to the nurses hub. Kennedy stood around on her phone as I went to the back and put the stuff up
"Surprisingly, I'm glad I came to work today"
"Why is that?" I asked kennedy. She just shrugged and looked up from her phone
"Ion know. I'm just glad I came"
"Well I like you, I'd rather be in my bed. Even on my days off I can never catch a break"
"That's cause you babysit ya lil boyfriend in your free time cause he act like a crackhead going through withdrawals if you ignore him"
I rolled my eyes and sat down in a chair
"You just saying that cause you'on like him"
"You right. I don't and I think you can do a whole lot better"
"All because of an argument. Kennedy, me and Kentrell get into arguments all the time"
"Okay and? He's disrespectful as hell to you and you crazy for even allowing it. That's why I choose to stay single cause y'all let these niggas push y'all over"
