Can't take my eyes off of you

Josie's POV

Everyone fell asleep in MG's room, so I had to carry Lizzie back into her room and Hope carried Rafael and Cleo.
Dr. Saltzman went out earlier and Kaleb went out after he woke up.

When everyone was back in their own rooms, Hope and I went back to her room.

It was already around 3 am, so we'd only have like 5 hours of sleep.
Also because it's a school night/ day and we have classes at 8:30.

Hope was already fast asleep and I wasn't.

I just couldn't close my eyes and fall asleep.
My thoughts kept me up.

I thought what it was going to be like without Hope.
I know what you're going to say, 'Josie don't go there' but I can't help it.

The necromancer said that she still has time before jumping into Malivore, so I should spend that time searching for a loophole.
There must be a loophole.

"Josie baby what are you doing?" Hope asks as she moves.
Hope turns the lamp on.
"I-I just can't sleep, that's all." I lie.
"Jo, you can tell me anything you know that, right?" Hope says and I nod.

"So tell me what's keeping you up?" She says softly.
I sigh and I slouch into the bed.
"I... I just don't want to live without you." I say.
Hopes face softens.
"I know, Jo. I don't want to live without you either, but the Necromancer said what he said." She says.
"But we can try to find a way to save you." I say a little harsh.
"I know Jo, but deep down you know that there's no way I'm going to live." Hope says making me feel worse.

I stretch over her and I turn off the lamp.
I turn facing the other way on the bed.
"Jo-" Hope starts, but I cut her off.
"Goodnight Hope."

Hope's POV

I spent the week normally just going to classes and stuff, but the one thing I've been missing is Josie.
I haven't seen her all week.
I keep trying to call her, but it goes straight to voicemail.

And when I do see her— which lasts for two seconds because she always says that Lizzie needs her, but I know she's lying.
Her heart always beats faster when she lies.

The last time I was with Josie was the day after game night and even though I was with her, she wasn't really there.

I was walking through the halls when I saw Lizzie.
"Liz!" I call out.
Lizzie turns around to face me.
"Where's Josie?" I ask her.
"I don't know." Lizzie replies nonchalantly.
"What?" I say confused.
"I literally have not seen her for the whole week." She says.
"But she told me she's been with you the whole week." I say confused.

Lizzie looks at me with the same look.

"Really?" Lizzie says.
I nod.
"Well she's been in the library for the whole day and I thought she was staying with you." Lizzie tells me.
"I-I'm going to go find her." I say to Lizzie.

I turn on my heels and I head to the library.

I walk into the library and it seems pretty empty.
I hear music so I assume it's Josie.
I head in the direction of the music.

I spot her at a table with books and pages sprawled across the table and floor.

I pull out one of her earbuds.
"King Princess, good choice." I say sitting down.
