𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐑The girls did not have much else to do, so they decided to just go to sleep. The girls were tired as could be and even more after the strong emotions they had been through that day, so they fell asleep rapidly. You would think that they wouldn't even dream, taking into account how exhausted they were, but that was absolutely not the case because, in the middle of the night, Reagan heard Lucy cry the name of Aslan, making her open her eyes quickly in fear that something had happened to her friend.
"Lucy, are you okay?" she asked worried.
"Yes, it was... it was just a nightmare," Lucy explained.
"I've been having them all night as well," the princess admitted getting up from the bed, "do you think it is because of the swords?"
"I mean... Coriakin said something about our darkest fears becoming true... but there is no turning back now, we have to find the lost Lords."
"Yes but... what if something worse happens? What if any of us gets badly hurt?" Reagan inquired. Lucy sighed, knowing that what her friend was saying was true, but they could not back up now, they were so close. Lucy just rose up from the bed as well and exited the room, although she returned just a couple of minutes later with Edmund by her side. Gael was sleeping with her father, also because of bad dreams.
"Bad dreams, ladies?" Edmund asked the girls sitting on the now-empty bed.
"You too?"
"The White Witch decided to pay me a visit tonight," he explained chuckling, resting importance to the matter, "but they are just dreams. It's just something messing with our minds and we know it, so we can fight against it."
They were not able to go to sleep again, so they stayed up until the sun came out and stepped on deck. They sighted land not long after Caspian joined them, so they mounted the boats and arrived at the shore of what seemed a deserted island: everything was quiet and there weren't any other ships or boats on sight. The King was giving each group a task, whether it was searching for food and water or exploring the island: the Pevensies and Reagan were in that second group, whereas Eustace was in the first one along Reep.
"Look, we are not the first ones on this island," Caspain observed, "could be the Lords."
There was a rope tied to a rock, going into a really deep cave and, although Reagan was not sure about entering it, everyone else seemed to be eager to discover more about what had happened there, so she did not say a word. Edmund was the first to go down, followed by Caspian, that leaving Lucy and Reagan alone for a short amount of time.
"Are you okay?" Lucy asked, looking worried at Reagan, "you seem distracted."
"I'm not really sure about this," she admitted knowing that Lucy would not judge her in any way, "what if something bad happens down there?"
"Then, we will be together to defeat it," the Queen of Old smiled putting a hand on Reagan's shoulders, "go, I'll follow you."
Reagan got ahold of the rope with shaky hands and started descending to the cave, only to find that it was bigger than any of them had expected at first and apparently, it was empty. No kidnappers on sight, no pirates, no... anything. All they could find was a gold statue submerged in a little pond of water so, in order to find out more, Edmund took a stick and introduced it in the water, only to find out that it converted itself to gold, making him throw it in the liquid before the shiny colour touched his bare skin.
So the pond was bewitched.
"He must have fallen in," Caspian deduced crouching besides golden statue. In reality, it was (or had been) a person, who had been either extremely selfish or extremely careless and trustful as to what the pond truly was.
"Poor man."
"You mean poor Lord," Edmund corrected his sister. Inside the water, there was a crest and one of the remaining swords, which Edmund took with his own. It did not turn to gold, though, because both of the swords were magical, as Caspian explained taking the weapon.
"He mustn't have known what hit him," Reagan spoke for the first time since they were down there.
"Maybe," Edmund replied, "or maybe he was onto something."
"What are you talking about?"
"What are you staring at?"
Edmund had taken a shell and had dipped it in the water, making it turn to gold, and had left it besides the pond.
"Whoever has access to this pool could be the most powerful person in the world," he explained while still looking at the shell, "Lucy, we'd be so rich. No one could tell us what to do... or who to live with."
"You can't take anything out of Narnia," Caspian warned him. That is when all hell broke loose: Caspian and Edmund started arguing, Lucy did not know what to do and Reagan, hating to see them like that, put herself in the middle of the two men.
"Guys, come on, the pond is affecting you."
"You are not one to talk, Reagan," Edmund turned her attention to her, "remember how you nearly kill my brother? Yeah, so stay out of this."
Reagan's face changed completely and it was obvious that Edmund's remark had affected her terribly. But she understood it, she had been there before and she knew that, once you were bewitched, you were not to blame since there was not anything you could do about the effects the spell had in you. That place had tempted them (as Lucy stated shortly after) and they managed to snap the boys out of it and to get out of there as quickly as they could.
"Reagan I..." Edmund tried to excuse himself, walking beside the princess.
"Don't worry, Ed. I know how is like, okay? I'm not mad at you," she admitted truthfully. Edmund, still sorry for what he had said, kissed the girl quickly and continued walking alongside her.
Once they reached the rest of the crew, they received two of the worst news possible: there was no food (or water) in the island and Eustace was nowhere to be found.
