Breakups are never easy. Sometimes, it dosen't happen the way you expect it and of course sometimes it hurts like hell, but sometimes it's a blessing.
It was a blessing for you. It was painful at first, you missed her like crazy but as time flew, you were sure you made the right decision.
You looked through your pictures in your phone's gallery. It was hard to admit it but you loved to see how happy you were with her. Sometimes you just logged in to your Instagram account to see her feed, to see if she found someone else.
And she did. She moved on. She moved on pretty fast. Her new girlfriend looked a little like you. Kinda comforting.
Sometimes, you felt like you could scream from the top of your lungs but deep down you knew it would be unnecessary. No one would hear you and no one would care.
She left her things at your house here and there.
She left her hoodie in your bedroom, because you loved to sleep in it, she left her pillow because you loved to cuddle to it when she was on tour. She left her toothbrush in your bathroom right next to yours. She left her favorite mug on your kitchen counter. It was a simple blue mug with a polar bear on it. You always found it cute. She was always mad at you if you made coffee for her in a different mug.
She was still logged in your Netflix account. She left her chineese food in your fridge. You remembered when she said she'll eat it later but sadly, this later never came.
You spent almost 3 years with her. And after 3 years, you loved her just the same as you did at the beginning of your relationship. It was hard to let her go and watch her move on. See her happy without you was even worse. It was killing you inside.
But after a while you started to heal.
You realized that you couldn't remember her phone number anymore. Her parfume's smell started to fade away slowly from your home. You became strong enough to delete all your pictures together and all the cute screenshots you took of your conversations. You became strong enough to throw her clothes and other stuff in the trash.
You started to forget about the way she laughs. You couldn't remember the taste of her lips. You couldn't remember the way she touched your hand. You couldn't remember how her voice sounded. You forgot how she drinks her coffee.
It was sad to see that people can go from people you know to people you don't.
You used to talk about everything. About your future together; kids, a big house and loads of cats. Now you are talking about nothing.
If you saw her on the streets you would smile at her and she would smile back atcyou. But you wouldn't share a single "hello" anymore.
But you know that it's not the end of the world. You will find someone else. Someone who will be perfect for you. Who will do everything that's possible and only for you. You will find someone who could never leave you, who will stay.
And you knew you were finally ready for that somebody.
