We walked discreetly through the forest, leaves fell down the trees as strong winds hit. The sky was a bright orange with a tint of neon pink, the sun was fixing to set. We followed the dirt path leading to North.

I glance at the intimidating blonde, Bishamon. I was wondering why she had decided to tag along, perhaps to protect her very own regalia, Kazuma. I stare at Kazuma, his face more serious than usual, which I wasn't aware was even possible.

A bead of sweat escaped and went down the side of my cheek as we perused through the forest. I scratch the back of my neck and closed my eyes, taking a deep sigh.

We walked for hours without stopping, the sun was now nowhere to be seen. And the sky changed from a bright orange to a endless, pitch black. We hadn't exchanged a word, we didn't need to.

We knew what we would have to in order to save the one close to us.

I got impatient, and checked the tracker Yato had lent me, my eyes widened. I book it down the path, Kazuma and Bishamon shouted my name as they followed close behind.

I jumped over the bushes, and hopped from tree to tree. We came to a stop as I stared down the bottomless pit, I walked back. Sprinting the whole way, I jumped from one side of the cliff to the other.

I continued sprinting, even after hearing their yells.

A straining feeling weighed down on my chest, I struggled to breath. Tears fell down my cheeks, I was convinced that this was all just a nightmare that I would soon wake up from. I knew better though, this hurt too much to be a measly dream.

~~-~~

I could barely see where I was, the only source of light provided to me was from the stars and the comforting illumination from the moon. I had to feel my way through the forest while keeping a steady, but lightning fast speed.

~~-~~

I had gotten off path long ago, I couldn't hear Bishamon and Kazuma's screams anymore. I was lost, all I had in mind was the blinking of the dot of my device.

It wasn't moving, that's why I started sprinting.

My legs felt numb, I couldn't keep up with my arms. I clench my teeth, ignoring aches surging throughout my body, I couldn't take it for much longer.

~~-~~

My leg hurts, the ringing in my ears replaced my headache with a brand new migraine. My leg, it was twitching. I cried out, sobbing, I felt like a child, nothing's changed, I'm still the same.... still the same, pathetic kid I was all those years ago.

I realized, I tripped. I tripped over a large root, my ankle, it hurt so, so much. I also realized, that's what had caused the ringing, that why my ankle was twitching. I'm in the ground, hugging my knees, wide eyed, crying with tears the size of marbles.

~~-~~

All this sobbing was hurting my throat, I felt like I had a ball in my throat choking back my yelling, turning my yelling into silent sobs. I couldn't see anything, it was dark and the tears wouldn't stop flowing. I could only hear myself.

I sat up, tears were overflowing, and my cheeks and nose were red. I wasn't breathing, I was trying my best to hold back the sobs, and my solution to that was to simply hold my breath.

I stumbled through the ground, and I held myself up, using the tree for support. I reached for my pocket, my feet felt numb, my breath hitched, and my heart stopped.

Quickly, I reached for my other pocket, my panicked sobs escapes. Nothing.

I fucking dropper it.
