It was the first day of August when one of my best friends, Amanda Holland, knocked on the door of my room and ran in without permission.

I rolled my eyes as I turned to face her. I had just made a face mask and wanted to eat chocolate and watch criminal minds, but I certainly couldn't do that now.
"What's up, Am?"

She sat on my bed and smiled innocently like a nun. I knew something was wrong.
"Well, you know I started making tiktoks too, right."

I nodded and she continued in her innocent voice.
"And I met a few people. You could have met them too, but you deactivated your comments and didn't want to become famous. You really shouldn't have, because they are all so cute and kind and caring and-."

I smiled, rolled my eyes and interrupted her rambling. "And you met a cute guy."

She blushed instantly and I knew what she would say next. I had known her for almost 5 years and could read her like a book. "Maybe, anyway ... Avani, I hope you know her because she's amazing, invited us to a party at Anthony's and I asked Kanzie and she's already in, so we have to persuade you to come too."

I was already shaking my head. "I'm not sure. When is it?"

"Tomorrow."

"But Fridays are always reserved for Dylan and you know that very well, boo. I'm sorry."

But she wouldn't give up. She really wanted me to come. "Yes, I know, but you could ask him to go with you."

"You know he won't come. It's not his scene."

She rolled her eyes and got up, grabbed my hands and looked into my eyes. She's got puppy eyes so I already knew I couldn't resist. I could never resist when she gave me these puppy looks. "You are a party animal and he's clearly not. And now? Who cares. He can come along, sit on the couch like the boring couch potato he is while you are dancing with your best friends. I'm sure you have enough space in Anthony's house to make up with your boy. It's huge. He even has a pool, you know? "

Damn, she was very convincing. And the problem was that she knew it. She knew exactly how to get what she wanted.

I looked down to avoid her puppy eyes, but it didn't work because she grabbed my chin and pushed my head up so we were at eye level.
"Come on, please. It's really important to me and I want you to meet my new friends."

I grinned. "And your new potential boyfriend."

And again her whole face went red and she smiled uncontrollably, even if she tried to hide it. But she said nothing what made my grin even bigger.

I sighed because I realized how important it was to her and I put my hand on her shoulder so our eyes met again. "Okay, I'm trying to get Dylan to go with us, but I promise nothing. If he doesn't want to, then ..."

"Then you come anyway, because besties before boys."
Again she was too good.

I closed my eyes and shook my head before a smile came over my lips and I nodded. "Okay, I'll come anyway."

Amanda stayed much longer than expected. She told me all about her new friends and about her little crush on a guy named Kio. She showed me some of his Tiktoks and I had to admit: he was hot. And not just hot, he was beautiful. She really had good taste in men.

After all the talk we went to Starbucks and guess who we met there: Kio and some of his friends who I suspected were also from Tiktok. Maybe I had even seen some of them in the app, but I hadn't really paid attention to the app anymore.

"Hey, Amanda, nice to see you again." I noticed his light Canadian slang and I smiled when I saw the sparks between them.

I knew she was lost in his eyes, so I walked forward and reached out to shake his hand. "Hello, I'm Sophia. You guys are something, aren't you?"
