How Long?!

What he wanted was his normal life back. He wanted his family's trust back. His sister and friends.

But mostly he wanted his best friend back.

"Mabel." He said and kneeled down to his sister. He hugged her tight and spoke. "I'm here, Mabel. Please stop crying." She leaned forward and cried onto his shoulder while still hiding her face.

It took her ten more minutes to calm down. But when she did, she finally hugged Dipper back. "I am so sorry Dipper. I was only thinking about me and my feelings, and so I acted selfishly over yours." She said after taking a deep breath. As she took another one, she prepared herself for her next heavy words.

"And it's not only today..or yestarday..or the other day...through out the whole school year I didn't even try to understand you and ask if you were okay like a normal person. And the last week I demanded answers instead of asking If you wanted t-to talk." She started to tear up again. Dipper cupped her face and wiped away her tears with his thumbs. His hands slowly started to trail down her long beautiful hair.

"Will you f-forgive me?" She stuttered out only to be met by her brother's smile. "I already did." He said as he reached the end of the dark brown strands he was holding.

His hands reached for Mabel's as he slowly stood up. Mabel did too. Then he tugged her lightly walking backwards to his bed. As he reached it he turned them around and made her sit down. Then he withdrew over to one of Mabel's drawers. As he opened it he pulled out a few elastic hairbands and bobby pins and walked back to his sister. He climbed the bed and sat behind her.

"The School year was full of ups and downs. Even if we didn't argue or anything, the tension between us was visible from miles away. And for last week...I don't have any excuse for the things I did..." He took a deep breath as he started braiding her hair. "..nor the ones that lie ahead. But, Mabel. The question here is...will you be as kind to forgive me?" He finished and awaited for the other's answer.

Mabel was reminded once again of the stressful events that led her and her brother to that crucial moment.

"I already did." She repeated her brother's words. They both smiled and Dipper silently let free the breath he just now realized he was holding. Both of the twins were extremely happy at that moment. They were together and glad they finally made up with each other.

"You know...Pacifica suggested something today." Mabel said. She and Dipper were now laid down on the floor with Dipper's Pillow under his head and Mabel's blanket over them. Mabel was using his arm as a pillow and he was playing with her hair with his partially trapped hand. "What is it?" He asked.

Flashback

"Guys, I have an idea." Everyone looked at Pacifica. She was seated on one of the swings as Mabel was swinging on the other one. Gideon and Grenda were climbing the Jungle Gym. Wendy was laying on the bench playing with and spinning a long stick she found. And Candy, similar to Wendy, was laying on one of the tree's boughs above the bench playing with the twigs and leaves.

"My parents will be out of town for two weeks. I was wondering if you want to stay at the Manor till they come back?" Everyone silently looked at each other.

"Is it really okay?" Gideon asked at last, transferring everyone's thoughts.

"Of course it is!" She exclaimed brightly.

And so they settled up for a two-weeks-lasting sleepover.

End of Flashback

"Two weeks?!" Dipper almost shouted.

"Yup! You wanna come?? Please Dipper, pretty please say 'yes'!!" Mabel, as she got up onto her knees, begged her brother to come along with her and their friends.

Dipper thought about it for some time. There were many things that could go wrong. But he really needed to spend some time with his friends. "Okay, I'll come." He managed to say right before his sister to lunge herself over him in a hug. He patted her back for he has been defeated and soon was to be not breathing.

When Mable let go of him she stood up and helped Dipper up. At that time it was already starting to get dark outside. Mabel picked up her blanket, dusted it and fixed it onto her bed. Dipper did the same with his pillow.

"Hey, it's almost time to go to bed." Mabel exclaimed, after checking the time on her phone. "Really? What happened with the dinner?" Mabel shrugged.

They went to the kitchen, but there was seen no food nor anyone to make such. Then they heard the vending machine to open. Ford came into the room, yawning and scratching the back of his head. He opened the fridge and started looking through it while scratching his lower back.

"Just like Stan." Mabel whispered to her brother. He nodded slowly and hummed in agreement. He cleared his throat, startling his Grunkle, when he and his sister had enough of the horrid view. Ford yelped, jumping back and almost hitting his back on the fridge's door. He took a couple of deep breaths, squeezing hos lab coat where his heart was.

"Why are you sneaking up on me?! I'll get a heart attack!" He said higher than intended. The twins looked at each other.

"We were first here." Said Dipper. Ford was perplexed.

"You were?" He asked after some time, still looking stunned. The twins nodded.

"Are you going to bed soon?" Ford said, trying to change the subject.

"We were actually wondering what happened with the dinner?" Mabel said. Dipper finished.

"Did we miss it?"

Ford once again scratched his head.

"I thought I missed it too, so I came to have something from the fridge." He said.

All three exchanged looks and thought in unison. 'Where is Stan?'

Hello everyone. As you all know (or just the ones who read the Author Note in the beginning of this book) I said that from Chapter 9 till 19 I might publish two Chapters at a time. I will do that now, because of the one month delay. I wanted to finish Chapters 23 and 24 before I published anything else.

Well, I still haven't finished them, but I didn't want to make you wait anymore.

And as an apology for the delay I will post Chapter 19 as well.

Word Count: 1039

Publish date: 04 July 2020
