     it was the first day of school and to say that nini was nervous was an understatement. she had spent so long overthinking this morning that she was late. "nins thank god you're here" she heard kourt say as she waited in front of her locker. "come on we're gonna be late for bio" her friend said as she dragged nini to their classroom.
      they were almost there, that is until kourt felt something pushing her hand behind and a thud. "ouch" she heard nini say. when she looked back, there was nini, on the floor, her books all around her. "oh my god i'm so sorry" they both heard a voice say. i know that voice. nini thought, and she was right. "ricky?" she said in a very confused tone while looking at him collecting all her stuff. he put his hand out to help her stand up "uh hey" he responded.
       you see, ricky was her old childhood best friend, but not only that, her old crush. she hadn't heard of him or seen him in years. now that she thought about it, it was almost like he vanished from her life. the end of middle school he was there but that was the last memory she had with him. she didn't know what had happened to them, she did know that it made her upset that they wouldn't hang out in the summer. but after some time, she just kind of forgot about him.
       she also noticed that he had changed a lot. he was always this curly haired light brown eyed boy, but his hair was lighter now. he was a lot taller, which made sense, and he was also a lot cuter. did i really just think that? but that was not all. he had a different look. a tired look on his eyes, but even then she could see in him the ricky she used to know.
      now ricky's reaction was similar to nini's. only he sort of knew why they drifted. it was the summer when his parents started fighting. he didn't feel like hanging out with anyone for a while, and when he did, it seemed like nini had moved on. it hurt him, but after a while he kind forgot her too. was she this pretty? i don't remember her being this pretty. sure she was his childhood crush, but she had definitely had a glow up. her hair, that she used to always keep short, was now long. she looked beautiful and he could not find other words to describe it.
       the two of them were just standing there, no words said, looking at each other with the deepest and most meaningful look. it was like their eyes were overflowing. kourtney was just standing there watching the scene unroll, and she was very confused. she knew who ricky was, but she didn't know he knew nini. and by the way those two where staring at each other they had a past. i've never seen nini look at anyone like that. not even ej. when about two minutes of complete silence passed kourtney had enough "nini come on, we have to go!" she said as she dragged nini to the class.
     she noticed that even then, ricky and nini were still looking at each other.
