     nini left her car and immediately regretted not bringing a jacket. as she walked down the steps of that familiar house, she felt more nervous than ever and the cold weather wasn't helping her feel any more comfortable. every step she took a voice inside her kept saying she should leave before it's too late, but she didn't. her friends were right, she had to do this.
     she knocked on the door, and waited nervously tapping her foot, until someone opened the door. "i like you" she said, not even looking up into ricky's eyes when she said it. she didn't want to see his reaction. but after a couple of seconds of silence she decided to look, and found ricky's dad standing by the door "hey nini".
     her cheeks turned a bright pink as she realized she has just confessed her feelings to mike. "hi mr bowen" she said earning a chuckle from him. "ricky, get your ass down here" he screamed, then turning to whisper "good luck" to the girl before leaving.
      what the both of them didn't know was that ricky was coming down from his room to open the door, but his since dad gotten there first he decided to just wait to see who it was and ended up listening to the whole thing.
     when his dad left, he ran down the stairs, his heart beating out of his chest. she liked him too, and he was not letting her get away this time. nini was still looking down, feeling more embarrassed than ever. she heard footsteps approaching and then she saw a pair of shoes close to hers and felt a hand lifting up her chin.
      she barely had any time to look at ricky before she felt his lips in hers. it took her a couple of seconds to process what was happening, but when she did, her arms went around his neck and one hand tangled in his curls. the boy pulled her closer holding her by her waist. they were in their own little world, both of them finally doing something they've wanted for years.
      after a while, ricky pulled away. their foreheads pressed together, until he separated them and held nini's face in his hands "i like you too" he said chuckling "unless that was meant for my dad". nini slapped the boy lightly before getting on her tippy toes and giving him a small kiss "definitely meant for you".
       ricky pulled her in a hug, amazed by the fact that this was actually happening. carlos was right. big red was right. she would come to him. he's glad she did. "come on love birds, let's have some dinner" mike said from inside, making the couple pull away and intertwine their hands before heading for the dinner table. both of them with the biggest smile on their faces.
