______________
ninis' point of view:
______________I took a look at the screen and feel my heart beat quicken. "Ricky this is a scary movie," I pouted. "Can't we just watch high school musical like always?" I begged.
"I'm 13 now Ni, your mom said when I turned 13 we could watch pg-13 movies together. Please!" He matched my pout, making it harder to say no.
I let out a small sigh before I nod my head. I feel a small smile grow on my face seeing him jump up happily to press play.
"Only because it's your birthday! Don't get used to this," I said. He looked back giving me a wink. "What happens in this movie? Did you watch the preview?" I asked as he settled in beside me.
I placed my blanket across his legs as he shook his head no, "I just saw pg-13 and it was scary. It's called Insidious"
"Oh god, that sounds scary."
Ever since we were little Ricky thrives on scary things. Any way he could scare me, he would; jumping out from behind doors, wearing Halloween masks even when it wasn't Halloween, etc. I know he is going to love this, but me on the other hand I'm going to have nightmares for weeks. As much as I don't want too, I will push through considering it's his birthday.
"If you get really scared let me know, I'll turn it off," he said quietly, snuggling into the blanket.
"Okay thank you."
Even though I wouldn't tell him to turn it off, my heart fluttered at the thought he'd turn it off just for me.

"Hey, you can let go now," Ricky chuckled.
"Oh, it's over already? Wow that went by so fast!" I joked, knowing that it was the longest hour and 30 minutes of my life.
"Yeah okay," he said nodding, going along with my sarcasm. "You tired or do you wanna watch another movie?"
"Is it gunna be a scary movie?" I ask.
"No. Anything you want."
"High-school musical?" We said in sync and he nodded, grabbing the disk.
"You're the best," I smiled as he sat back down next to me.
"I know," he smirked.
I let out a small gasp before giggling quietly, "did you like the movie?" I asked.
A wide grin grew on his face, "I loved it. I'm sorry I made you watch it though."
I scrunched my eyebrows up, "what do you mean? You didn't make me do anything, you have no reason to apologize."
"You only watch it for me. I know you, you're going to be scared for weeks," he argued.
"I'll be okay. I'll just wake you up when I get scared then, make sure your phone is on overnight from now on," I tease.
He nods, "okay. Deal."
I hummed in satisfaction hearing the familiar opening scene to my favorite movie.
Without thinking I lay my head on his shoulder, pulling the blanket up right under my chin. I could feel him shift his weight hesitantly before he laid his head on mine to get comfy.
Before long, my eyelids grew heavier and I knew sleep would take over any second. I am feeling more content than ever before, even considering the horror movie we watch not even 30 minutes ago. I reach for Ricky's arm from under the blanket, just wanting to be closer to him. With one last yawn I decided to let it in hearing Ricky whisper in my ear, "thank you for making this birthday the best of them all."
I mumbled something I couldn't even understand before I snuggled even closer into his side and drifted away to sleep.
