______________
ninis' point of view:
______________I feel better today. Ever since I had a heart to heart with my mom about Ricky, I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I think it's safe to admit now that I had a crush on Ricky. Mom said that's what happens when you spend everyday with someone since you were little, but she also said I'd get over it. There is no reason to lose a forever friend over a silly crush that will last a week.
I just finished brushing teeth, when I got a text from Ricky saying they were here. I scoop my book bag up and rush out the door making sure to say I love you to mom before leaving.
"Good morning!" I smile, climbing in the backseat.
"Morning," Ricky's mom smiled, handing me a chocolate donut.
"What's this for?" I asked.
"It's Friday. Decided to start your day with a delicious treat," she said flashing me one last smile before shifting her gears into drive. "Don't tell your mom."
I let out a small laugh, "your secret is safe with me."
"Atta girl!"
Ricky cleared his throat before giving his mom a look. "Uhm Nini did you finish the homework for Dysons class?" my eyes widened in shock at Ricky speaking to me. He hasn't spoken to me directly in a month.
I shook off the shock and was reminded of what me and my mom talked about. "Yeah, it was kinda hard but I managed to do it within an hour."
"Yeah, I had trouble. I kinda miss you helping me with my homework, it was easier to understand when you explained it to me."
The familiar feeling of the butterflies found there way back into my stomach, as if this month of me moving on had been all for nothing and I'm back to square one.
"Well next time just text me and I can FaceTime you and help, you do have my number you know," I tease.
"Yeah, I know. Want to come over today?"
"I would but I can't. I have plans with someone from theater."
"Nina! I didn't know you liked theater. When did this become a thing?" Ricky's mom asked.
"Yeah! I started it two weeks ago, I love it!" I smiled.
"What play are you doing? I'd love to come see it opening night!"
She pulled up to the curb, "it's called American idol, I'll have my mom send you night dates."
"Awesome." She says, smile widening in the mirror as we lock eyes.
I look down at the donut they brought me with a smile on my face. Ricky spoke to me, and I know for a fact just from that conversation I still have the same feelings I did a month ago. I miss him, more now even though he's only in the front seat.
I didn't notice that we had stopped moving and were now in front of the school because I was so zoned out. "Okay, have a great day you guys. Ricky dads picking you up after school. I love you!"
"Bye mom," he mumbled climbing out.
"Thanks for the ride!" I said before hopping out.
"Who's the theater friend you're hanging out with?" Ricky asked as we walked up too the doors.
"His name is Ethan, he's the lead roll."
"Ethan?" He questioned.
"Yeah, were going to Sweet tooth to go over our lines and then maybe out to eat after I don't know," I shrugged.
"Since when do you drink coffee?" He cringed.
"I don't, it's gross. I will get hot chocolate or something. Who do you think I am?" I laughed giving him a shove.
"I dunno," he laughed but it seemed off. "I gotta go, talk to you later?" He asked.
I didn't want him to go. With everything in me I wanted him to just stay and keep talking like we were, like old times. I am afraid that this could be our last time joking and talking for another month.
I forced a smile and nodded, "later."
I watched him walk away, and the sadness grew into a pout on my lips.

I was in a daze staring out the window of third period when I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. I smiled reading the name across my phone, still to this day cringing at the emoji's he put next to his own name.
I didn't want to get caught texting, so I asked my teacher if I could use the restroom. She didn't even bother looking up from her desk, when she pointed to the bathroom passes that hang on the door.
"Thanks!" I mumbled, rushing for the door. My phone felt heavy in my pocket as a I ran out the door. He texted me. He hasn't texted me other than letting me know his moms at my house to pick me up in the morning.
I run into a stall in the bathroom and whip out my phone.
