April 8, 1940.

Morning Time.

North Sea

Glowworm plowed the cold waves, alone but unafraid as she had been detached from her fleet to look for her flagship Renown’s earring which had been lost yesterday on a bouy.

"Uhhhhh." She sighed as the green-haired destroyer spent the entirety of last night looking for it without success.

Now, she was on her way to return to Renown and deliver the bad news as She stretched her legs in relief, her engine room aching now.

Still, the scrappy destroyer was happy to soon be reunited with her younger sisters Greyhound, Hero, and Hyperion. Some tea and biscuits sounded delicious right about now as well.

As she peered through the heavy fog, the British warship picked up a couple of small figures sailing up to her.

“Hero? Hyperion?” Glowworm said to herself as a cold dread creeped up her keel.

“Wait, I shouldn’t have found them this soon. This fog’s really playing tricks on me.”

However, as she got closer, she began to realize that something was off.

“Hang on! Those aren’t even Royal Navy ships at all! They’re Ironblood!”

Glowworm froze as a lusty German voice called out.

“Guten Tag, Fräulein!” One of the Ironblood destroyers yelled as they came into view, “I’m Z18, and this is Z11. Can ya tell us which way Norway is?”

“As if I’d help the likes of you, you crazy Krauts!” Glowworm shouted viciously as she opened fire with her QF 4.7-inch guns.

“Ah! Crazy British lady!” Z18 shouted, “Run awaaaay~!”

“Get back here, you little pipsqueaks!” Glowworm shouted back as she gave chase.

After hours of boredom searching for a lost earring, it felt good to get a little action. Maybe she was getting a little too into it, but Glowworm didn’t care.

Suddenly, a large spout of water erupted next to her, and another Ironblood shipgirl hovered into view.

Like Z18, she was another blonde, but unlike Z18, she was taller, grumpier, and had larger guns. Glowworm gulped as she realized it was the heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper.

“Hmph, look who’s the pipsqueak now.” Admiral Hipper scoffed as she fired off several more salvoes of 20.3cm shells.

One of those shells hit Glowworm as she grimaced painfully. “Yeah..., I bit off more than I can chew.” She thought frustratingly as she went over her options.

“Better make smoke, and get out of here.” Glowworm turned away, and laid a smokescreen, hoping she could use it to hide and retreat. However, when she emerged from smoke, Admiral Hipper was much closer than  before.

“Foolish girl,” Said the Ironblood heavy cruiser as she was almost on top of her. “My guns are directed by radar. I can see right through your pitiful smoke screen!”

Admiral Hipper let loose another salvo as Glowworm really felt it this time. One of her guns was blasted to shreds, her face was cut open and bleeding, as her mast crashed down on the back of her head.

"Aggghhh!" She let out a screech of pain that rivaled that of a banshee wail.

Admiral Hipper covered her ears. “Hey, stop screaming so loud!” Admiral Hipper shouted.

"Screw you! Have some torpedoes!” Glowworm glared angrily at the heavy cruiser.

Glowworm fired off a spread of 5 torpedoes, but they all missed.
