THE FEMALE ALPHA

Chapter eleven

Kevin is impatiently waiting for me at the training beach. The moment I step in, he approaches me and drags me to the other side of the room where it's less conjested. I look around and there are many people working out, others are busy training on how to attack werewolves and vampires.

"Alpha ordered me to show you somewhere else." Kevin says while moving to a secret door that I barely noticed before. It leads to a hallway and then stairs all the way to the ground. It's so dark here that the only thing keeping me going is my curiosity. I don't trust Kevin.
We walk down many stairs. Then we come to an underground tunnel system  where there is corridor after corridor.

I trail behind him, not letting my guard down for one second.
At the end of this riddle, we stand at the entrance of a gate made of silver.

We get into a room and it looks like a legit torture dungeon.
There are cells where the werewolves and vampires are held captive. I hear a loud growl as we pass by the wolves who are so helpless and tied up with silver chains.
My heart goes out to a very young wolf who seems to be in her early teens.

My body flinches when a massive metallic door echoes in the hallway as a cell is opened up. A girl is dragged out of the cell with silver chains on her hands and legs. She's a vampire, who I can tell was once a strong woman, a fierce fighter, a worrior, but now changed into a broken, empty shell of what she used to be.
They all think we are monsters.

"No... " her strengthless cry is muffled by another closed door, and again, silence falls in the hallway.

It's at the fifth cell when my body becomes stiff and my legs become rooted to the ground. I hold a hand to my lips to suppress a scream.
My wide eyes taking in the scene before me that's illuminated by the light from the hallway.
I stare in disbelief at my twin brother, laying helplessly at the ground. His hands are bleeding from the sides and only God knows what they've been doing to him. He looks so tired to even lift a limb.
Tears gather around the conners of my eyes, overflowing, yet my eyes remain unblinking.
Without giving it much thought, I move closer to the door and look at him through the silver laced bars.
"Dante." My voice is hoarse and I can't stop the tears that are trickling down my face.
He suddenly looks up and once our eyes lock, determination and anger coarses through me. My heart is thumping so hard against my chest.
I want to do something to save him already.
"What have they done to you?"

"Demi?" Kevin's  voice brings me back to reality.  "Come on, let's keep moving."
However, I decide to act on instict. Asif reading my mind, Kevin comes behind me immediately and pulls me away then says, "don't do anything stupid Demi. The moment you touch that door, the security alarm goes off and in a moment all hunters are here." He says and for a moment concern laced in his eyes.

"You don't want that do you?"
Before I even say a word, two people walk into the hallway. One of them I notice from the meeting at Malibu's office, while the other one is new in this place. I can tell because he's also Being shown around.

However, I feel something.
Like a dead person?  The scent of a vampire invades my senses making my nose twitch upwards and it's near. Looking around, I notice Kevin also scrunching up his nose against the scent, but as quickly as it comes, it goes.
'No it can't be'
I slap myself internally on such thought. No way a Vampire could be here!
"Demi, meet Harvey and Aiden."
Kevin's voice draws me out of my thoughts.
They offer their hands for a handshake
"I am Demi."
I say while shaking their hands.

"Can I talk to you briefly"
Harvey says to Kevin who moves a step away from me. But he does not let his guard down. He gives me a look clearly warns me from messing up.

"Hey, how are you doing."
Adrian asks me.
I know I'm not looking my best right now because who the hell would be, if they saw their brother in such a situation. All these werewolves need my protection and I'm not able to do that at the moment. How can I not be worried.
Without saying a word, Adrian moves closer then whispers, "Xavier, my maker sent me."
