Chapter 39

"Nico can you just shut up" will snapped.

Nico much like the girls in the bathroom was talking about this hot guy he saw before.

We slowly worked our way out into the deep half of the pool.

The waves made by the huge machines at the far end rhythmically Churning out waves ever three minutes or so.

We all tread water and waited for the waves to come at us.

"Hey Nico are you good?" I asked

Nico hasn't ever been the best at swimming and I knew he wouldn't be able to tread for as long as us.

"I'm fine" he gritted his teeth.

"ARE YOU READY GUYS" piper screeched as the machine began to rumble.

Suddenly a tall wall of water was netting across the pool at us.

Some kids around us yelled and hung tighter obto their floats.

I ducked under the waves as I remember Percy teaching me.

Will and Piper didn't and were picked up by the wave and swept far out into the distance.

"Well their not back anytime soon" I smiled at Nico.

Or at least I smiled at were I had just seen Nico because he was silently struggling and kept dipping under that water.

I had flash back to when I had all of those classes about drowning in school.

And Thalia.

How she looked before.

My lungs began to tighten and I felt panicked.

I came up behind Nico and tried to lift him into a back float but he struggled and started to drag me under to.

"Nico stop let me help you"

Nico looked so vunderabke as he gasped at the surface.

"Shit"

I tried and yet again struggled to get him towards the side of the pool.

"Hey It's okay"

I squeaked as I heard an extremely familiar voice.

Percy.

Well shit.

I didn't have time to be all cute and flustered, Nico was still having troubles.

Percy campy lay him over his front and held him under the chin and paddled him over to the side of the pool.

Nico clutched the pool edge and coughed up some pool water while gasping for air.

"Nico are you okay?"

I asked and patted him on the back as he violently coughed.

"Y-yeah"

We sat on the pool side.

I didn't want to look at Percy.

But I did.

His eyes looked sorrowful and he didn't have that sparkle in his eye when he looked at me anymore.

Did he know I looked at his pictures. I felt a jab of pain in my ribs as I looked away.

"Nico, are you still up to swimming".

Nico looked up at Percy, his big brown eyes spark olive and his face was turning pink.

"Yeah"

"Okay but I do request that to keep you safer you wear these"

Percy handed Nico some inflatable water wings.

Nico blanched and his face was so red, he was cute when he was flustered.

"T-thank you ummm"

"Percy, I'm the new assistant life guard here"

Nico nodded and we both watched in awe as Percy walked back towards the other supervisors.

"Oh gods he is so hot" Nico covered his face and wheezed into his hands.

"Yeah, yeah I guess so"

My chest ached and my eyes stung with chlorine and tears.

Why was everything so messed up now,I want to go back to the beach and just surf and be happy wth him, what is wrong with me.

Nico and I blowed up his water wings and returned back into the water to find piper and Will.

Will mocked Nicos little blow up arms and the dough for a bit.

"Hey Anne are you okay"

Piper touched my back.

"Percy is the life guard here"

" but that's good"

I looked into pipers beautiful eyes and I think she got the message.

"It's okay we should go and get some lunch anyways.
