In the strange dream that I had, knowing that I had been beaten unconcious, I saw a woman with long black hair. She seemed powerful, yet graceful in her ways. She smiled at me and I felt at home. She had serious working with her smile to make it that powerful.

"Young Zoey, you are so brave..." the woman said, standing up and letting the long white gown she was wearing trail to the ground behind her. Her long black hair had flowers braided into it and something about it made her seem even more welcoming.

"You know my name?" I asked, looking around us at the field we were standing in. Almost like wheat, except it was red.

"I know alot, child," she said, lightly brushing my hair out of my face and smiling again, "Like I know that your life is soon to change."

The air around me shifted, my head became light and I fell backwards into the red wheat, it surrounded me, rubbing against my face and tickling me.

"You must become the warrior that you are meant to be, young Zoey. Become the fighter that was imprinted on you at birth," the woman said, turning to walk away through the field.

"Wait, who are you?" I called weakly.

"I am Kakeru, your time to meet me will come soon enough, sweet child," she said...

                                                                '~*~'

I woke up in the nurse's office on one of the hard beds. I looked around and saw that there was blood on the floor, at closer inspection, I realized it was mine and frowned. Everything hurt to move, and I felt like crying when the nurse, Jan Reed, stepped back into the office.

"Oh, honey, you're awake," Mrs. Reed touched my head and I felt little ripples of pain sent through me.

"I look horrible...don't I?" I whispered, too scared to trust my own voice.

"The cuts will heal," she replied, a look of sadness on her face.

"Can I go home?" I asked, tears finally welling up and rolling down my cheeks.

"We called your mother, she wants you to finish the rest of the school day," Mrs. Reed said.

"But I-" I started, but someone interrupted me.

"That won't be a problem," A guy said and I was able to look enough to see him. He was cute, even though I'd seen him around with Katie and her group of skanks. Even Mrs. Reed seemed to look him over again, which made her blush and turn back towards me, "You don't mind recieving a ride from..." she trailed off.

"Oh, Chace," he said, smirking at me.

"No, I don't mind, just let me go to the restroom," I said and I slid off the bed and walked into the bathroom, leaving Mrs. Reed and Chace to talk.

The mirror displayed that I didn't look as bad as I thought I would, with just a black eye and a scratch across my forehead. Apparently that's where the blood was coming from and I couldn't help but wonder if it'd been Katie, hitting me with a ring on, or if one of the other sick kids had done it. I lightly touched my eye and winced immediatley.

Stepping out of the bathroom, Chace smiled a dazzling smile at me as I grabbed my jacket that was lightly spotted with blood, "Ready to go?"

"As ready as I'll ever be," I replied quietly.
