That was the last thing I remembered before the sound of mechanical beeps woke me up. I was in a hospital bed, my leg wrapped in a cast and held above me. I frowned and tried to shift in the bed, but I was sore all over.
"You're awake," Max said, sitting on the bed.
I hadn't even noticed him at first, but he took my hand and smiled.
"Kakeru..." I said, my voice coming out scratchy.
"She's gone, I took care of her. She was the one who killed your mom, Chace, and even Katie," He said, grimacing.
"Katie's dead?" I asked, my heart sinking.
"They found her body when they took you to the hospital. They said you can leave tommorow," Max said, frowning as he saw pain flash across my face from my leg.
"You...you saved my life," I said, a smile forming across my lips.
"That, I did," Max said and he pulled me close to him on the bed. We stayed like that for the rest of my time in the hospital...Not sure where or what my life would be now, knowing that my boyfriend was a shifter and that I was the white witch who had the power to control the immortal world, things have changed for me...and it's not always for the better.
