Zhan Yao entered the courtroom absolutely terrified. His eyes fell on his father who was dressed in orange and black jailhouse uniform. Cheap sandles that could barely help him walk steadily. He was locked with others from different races in a narrow tiny cell.

"Dad?" Called Zhan Yao.

The blackness engulfed Zhan Yao's thoughts. The sudden horrific events were stretching out in front of him like a chaotic map, the unknown was digging his fears, and his courage and knowledge had simply disappeared.

Attending the whole hearing from both sides, the victims, culprits and the witnesses. There was no life saving here, the charges were proven on his father and he was confirmed guilty for murdering a man in a fight of self defense.

Time passed fast Before the djuge pronounced his verdict against Zhan Fu. Darkness had overcome any sense of purity inside Zhan Yao's mind when he heard the words they will be imprisoning his father for 10 years. It consumed all kinds of hopes and wiped his tears dry.

[I'm trying, God knows how much I'm trying, but I can't feel any improvement at all. It feels like I am under water while closing my eyes. Everything in my world suddenly ceases to exist somehow]

[The only thing I can hear is the strong beating of my heart and the loud thoughts on my mind. I need to reach the surface, my lungs are craving for oxygen, burning because I can't breathe]

[That's how I feel about everything lately. I can only hear the echoes of past voices on my mind, and sometimes it's hard to breathe, but the rest of the world doesn't matter anymore. Nothing matters right now for me after I lost hope in life. I just feel the beating of my heart; nothing less, nothing more]

Zhan Yao closed his diary and turned off the bedside lamp before he forced his eyes closed and surrendered to fatigue. He faded in the blackness of the night with his broken heart hoping for a good tomorrow, with small expectations yet a strong will to survive the crisis.
