Chapter 42

"Five minutes!" Someone yells, and I focus on my breathing. My eyes are closed, and I try to put myself in a happy place.

"Hands in." Mr. Schue says, and we all pile our hands on top of each other.

"Amazing!" We all cheer, which made a few tech guys glare at us.

"You'll do great, guys. I have to get to my seat though." Mr. Schue says, and walks out with Emma following behind.

"Places!" Another man yells, and I feel my hands get sweaty.

This is it.

C'mon Rachel, you've got this.

Don't worry. You're gonna do amazing.

You're a star, Rachel Berry.

I finish my pep talk, and walk over to my place next to Quinn. We are hidden by the fabric of a curtain, which will be lifted any second now.

There's an applause on stage, and another glee club comes off stage.

Any second.

The curtain suddenly raises, and we immediately start singing.

Quinn and Santana start off, as everyone dances our routine.

I smile as Mercedes begins singing.

"Bang bang into the room" I start the chorus.

Wait a minute 'til ya" I finish the chorus, and catch my breath.

You need a bad girl to blow your mind" Mercedes goes, and I bite my lip. We've got the audience standing on their feet.

Tina begins her rap. "It's Myx Moscato

Mercedes sings the next part, and I watch her take in a deep breath."See anybody could be good to you,
You need a bad girl to blow your mind"

Her voice cracks.

It's minor, but I can definitely hear it.

I don't think anyone else heard it though.
