Seth's leg was bouncing up and down as he sat on the sofa in his living room, stressed about the events that were about to occur. His stomach had been tying itself in knots ever since he left the Cullen house — and his boyfriend — and returned to his home. All he could do was wait and watch the clock, hoping that Aurélien would arrive soon to get it all over with. The longer he watched the progress of the hands around the clock face, he more anxious Sett grew. Any minute now, he was going to explode.

"Nervous?"

Seth glanced to Leah, his eyes comically wide and a sarcastic smile resting on his lips.

"Nervous? My boyfriend, who is hated by my entire family because he is a vampire, is coming to meet my over eager mother for the first time ever? So, what do you think?" Seth said bitterly, rolling his eyes and turning his gaze back to the clock. Surely Aurélien should be here by now? Was he not teleporting? Or was he driving? If he was, then perhaps Seth could race out the door when he arrived, leap into the back seat and order Aurélien to drive away as quickly as possible.

"The only members of your family meeting Aurélien today are me and mum," Leah said, reaching out to squeeze her brother's shoulder comfortingly. "It's only is you have to worry about, and it's unlikely your boyfriend could do anything to make us hate him. Forget about the pack. For today, at least."

In contrast, Leah seemed quite relaxed. It was stable since a vampire — something she claimed to hate with every fibre of her very being — was soon going to be entering her house and remaining their for a few hours at the very least. Seth would've presumed she'd bee on edge. Instead she was flicking through a magazine he knew she was only reading to judge the ridiculous content about celebrities and the many rumours currently circulating about them and the scandals they were involved in. If there was one thing Leah enjoyed, it was scoffing at the many pointless things people liked to focus their time and effort on.

"How?" How? How could he forget how much the pack despised Aurélien and everything he was. It plagued him constantly. His only respite the moments he shared with his boyfriend, but as soon a they drew to a close he began worrying that it sound be the very last time they'd see each other.

"Don't try to look at the supernatural side of things. Don't focus on the fact you're bringing your vampire boyfriend into werewolf territory," Leah explained you him. "Focus on the fact that your bring your boyfriend, whom you love very much, to meet you sister and mother, who are probably going to love him too."

Seth was absolutely not going to cry.

"She's right, you know." Seth shifted from his original position on the sofa to face his mother, who had appeared in the doorway of the living room. "When your father passed, I noticed that you'd lost some of your usual spark. That your smiles were a little more infrequent and less bright. But Aurélien has rekindled that spark. He loves you and he's made you so happy, and isn't that all a mother really wants for her child at the end of the day?"
