Disoriented was the best word to describe Seth when he opened his eyes that morning. He wasn't in his room, he knew that immediately, and it took a few more seconds to realise he was in Aurélien's room, laying in Aurélien's unnecessarily large bed (why was it so big if he didn't actually use it for sleeping?). It smelled like Seth's boyfriend too — his smell lingered on the bedding, blanketed the carpet, coated every surface and clung to the walls. The natural vanilla smell mixed in with the artificial sugary one that permeated all vampires. Aurélien was all over the room, and yet he wasn't currently in it. So where was he?

Cocking his head, Seth listened out for any sounds in the house, finding it very unlikely that Aurélien would just leave. He was right because after a few seconds he detected sounds from the kitchen. Judging by the smells that accompanied Aurélien's activity, he was cooking. It was then that Seth realised how starving he was.

Throwing back the covers to climb out of bed, Seth realised he was once again wearing a pair of jogging bottoms and a loose t-shirt of Aurélien's. Did Aurélien only own two kinds of outfits, Seth wondered. The French vampire seemed to have endless variations of his jumper, shirt and skinny jeans ensemble, and his jogging bottoms with a t-shirt one too. Seth made a mental note to ask Aurélien about it as he climbed from bed and padded downstairs into the open plan living room, kitchen and dining room.

"Sleeping beauty awakens," Aurélien exclaimed from where he was leaning against the black, granite kitchen counter top, watching over multiple frying pans, the contents of which were sizzling loudly and filling the room with a wonderful aroma that made Seth's mouth practically water. Shifters burnt calories much faster than human so they needed to eat more, but Seth had missed out on dinner last night and it was almost midday, so he basically skipped breakfast too. It was safe to say he was absolutely starving.

"What are you making?" Seth asked, seating himself on a glass stool at the island in the middle of the kitchen — well, what would be the kitchen if it had walls and a door rather than being open. Considering the residents of the house didn't eat food, it seemed a little over kill to have a dining table as well, so Seth assumed the large, granite island was for preparing food on and the stools were simply so others could keep the person cooking company while they worked. Esme regularly made food for Bella and him, and Carlisle's colleagues at the hospital too.

"Full english breakfast," Aurélien said, placing a cup of coffee and an empty plate in front of Seth. "Well, almost full." Approaching with the prying pans one by one, Aurélien placed some scrambled eggs on his plate, a few sausages and pieces of bacon, hash browns, and some baked beans. Seth was scarfing the food down in seconds, nodding appreciatively every now and then, much to Aurélien's amusement.

"How can you cook so well? You can't eat."

"I have a brilliant memory for recipes as a vampire, and I know how meals should look and smell," Aurélien answered, taking a seat across from Seth. "Don't particularly need to taste the food to cook it."
