The next day Peter Parker had come home early from Midtown due to one of his classes being canceled. He had done his routine and finished all of his homework and decided to take a nap. But as soon as he closed his eyes, he was back to that clock tower next to the electric power plant. He watched Gwen die again and held her limp body for the one-hundredth time.

"I can't live without you." Peter sobbed.

Then something different happened. He heard someone calling his name. And then he felt someone shake him. Peter opened his eyes to see Aunt May standing over his bed. She looked very concerned.

How did she get in here? Thought Peter. Then he noticed the door wide open. Oh I'm such an idiot I forgot to close the door.

Aunt May then spoke."Peter, what's wrong?"

"I'm fine Aunt May." But then he realized that he had tears streaming down his face.

"Really? Because you don't look fine. I heard you yelling from the other side of the house."

"It's a small house."

"Haha very funny. But do you want to know what I heard you yelling?

"Uh, no."

Aunt May ignored him. "I heard you yelling you're okay Gwen and I can't live without you before yelling no and Gwen. Does that sound alright to you? You sounded like you were having a nightmare about Gwen's death. Why do you think you were dreaming about it?"

"Well to be honest, I've been having nightmares about her death since the night she died. Plus, I feel guilty about it."

"Why do you feel guilty about her death? No one knows how she died. Ten months later it is still a mystery."

"I was with her the night she died. And it's all my fault."

"You were with Gwen the night she died?" Aunt May look puzzled. "Well, even though you were with her it still doesn't make it your fault."

"Yes it does!" Peter protested.

"And why is that?"

"Because I could've-" He choked. "I could have saved her, but I didn't."

"What do you mean you could have saved her? Peter Parker you are not Spider-Man." He looked down at the floor. He didn't want her to find out this way.

Aunt May gave him a confused look. "Peter Parker, what is going on?"

"Aunt May, can you keep a secret?" She nodded her head. Peter got up from his bed to shut his window. He went over to his closet and pulled his suit out. Aunt May's jaw dropped in disbelief. Then he pulled up the sleeve of his hoodie to reveal one of his web shooters and shot a web at the wall. Aunt May looked impressed.

"So that's why the laundry was red and blue! And when your face was covered with soot! How did this happen? Hold on, I don't want to know. I'm just glad you are safe. Do you know how many times you could've been killed?! I'm surprised I didn't find out sooner ."

She paused her ranting. "Gwen knew your secret, didn't she?" Peter nodded. "Now can you tell me how she died?"

And tearfully, he did. About how he got his powers, how Gwen found out, and how she died. Aunt May was sobbing by the end of it.

When he was done, she got up from the bed and hugged him. "I'm sorry sweetie. If I had only known I could've been of better assistance. You look like you have something on your mind. What's up?"

"It's just that, Aunt May, I thought that the good guys were supposed to get the girl. Maybe I'm just not good enough. I took what I had for granted and now she's gone."

"Peter Parker, like I've said before, if there is anything in this world that you are, you are good. Anyone who says otherwise can come talk to me."

Peter was about to say something when he felt a jolt in his nerves. Spidey senses. He started to go out of his room into the kitchen.

Aunt May looked concerned. "Peter, what is it now?"

"My spidey senses are tingling. Turn on the news."

Aunt May followed him out to the kitchen. "Your what?"

"My spidey senses. I don't have time to explain. Just turn on the news." She turned on the news. The two news anchors were chatting cheerfully when one of them had a trouble look come over his face.

"We have breaking news down in Queens, New York right now. Former Oscorp CEO Harry Osborn, aka the Green Goblin, has broken out of prison and is rampaging the city. Spider-Man if you are out there, the city needs you."

Peter started to run to his room, when Aunt May stopped him. "Where do you think you're going?"

"Duty calls." And with that Peter ran to his room and threw his suit on before swinging out the window. Harry Osborn was going to wish he had never broken out of prison.
