It was after lunch on a Saturday afternoon when Peter Parker decided that it was time for him to start planning on how to save Gwen. But in order to do that, he had to relive what had happened that night. So he decided to sneak over to the electric power plant at midnight to grab the security footage.
When Peter arrived there, he could barely keep his focus on what he came for because he started having flashbacks from the last time that he was there. He saw where him and Gwen had defeated Electro and the spots of the power plant that were still damaged from it. Then he turned and saw the clocktower. He saw the giant broken gears that Gwen had stood on top of. The flashbacks just kept rushing in. They got so overwhelming that all Peter could do was fall down on his knees and cry. He quickly pulled himself together before sneaking into the building that controlled the electricity of the power plant, which was pretty easy for Spider-Man. He grabbed the tape and hurried home.
It wasn't until the next day that he decided to watch the tape. Peter honestly didn't know if he could pull himself to watch it. But he had to or else his plan would fail. He couldn't just rely on memories when he needed to be exact.
So he sat down and plugged the security tape into his computer and started to watch it. Old feelings came rushing in that he hadn't felt in a long time as he took his notes. Peter had to force himself watch as Gwen died. He could barely see the computer screen from the tears falling down his face. He wanted to burn the tape to ashes.
But he couldn't. So he forced himself to watch it again. And again and again until he knew the tape like the back of his hand.
It wasn't until it felt to Peter like he had watched the tape for the millionth time and all the water had been drained from him that he had figured out a plan. Even though he didn't want to believe it, he knew that he needed Gwen's help to defeat Electro.
His plan was to take Gwen with him and have her help him how she did last time, but make sure she got out of the power plant before Harry Osborn showed up. It was going to be a challenge, but Peter was willing to make it work.
Later that day Peter decided to go visit Gwen's grave. He grabbed some roses before going over to the cemetery. There was the familiar headstone that he had seen every day for the past eleven months. Peter carefully placed the flowers down next to the ones he had put previously.
"Hey Gwen. I hope you are doing okay up there. Say hi to my mom and dad for me. This month has been so crazy. Remember about that visit I had from Smythe, your friend at Oscorp, that I told you about? Well I have decided to accept his deal. I know you would be probably thinking that I'm crazy, but I can't keep on living like this without you. I'm going to save you and bring you back to me."
He started to cry. "I miss you so much and I can't wait to be with you again. I love you, Gwen Stacy."
