Andrew Garfield with glasses. Y'all are welcome ;p

Peter Parker stepped out of his car after parking it in front of the Stacy's apartment complex. He was immediately blinded by a flashing of lights. The paparazzi had found him...again. He quickly ran into the building and dashed into the boy's bathroom.

In his stall he pulled out from his backpack his dad's glasses and a dark blue hoodie and put them on. He exited the bathroom. The paparazzi were waiting outside and immediately lowered their cameras when he walked out.

Peter grinned. It reminded him of the time he sneaked into an Oscorp tour with only the glasses for a disguises. Only Gwen had recognized him. Gwen always seemed to recognize him when he was invisible to everyone else. It was one of the things that Peter loved the most about her. He had to stop thinking about the memory before he started to cry.

He boarded the elevator until he had reached the twentieth floor. He found the Stacy's apartment number and knocked on the door. He took off his hood and glasses so he would be recognizable. A bright green eye that was identical to Gwen's stared at him from the peep hole.

Then the door open and there stood Helen Stacy."Hello Peter."

"Hi Mrs. Stacy. I want to talk to you about something. Can I come in before the paparazzi find out where I am?"

Mrs. Stacy laughed, which reminded Peter of when he used to make Gwen laughed. He had loved her laugh. "Of course you can come in." She opened the door wider and Peter walked through it. She gestured to the couch and he sat across from her.

"So I'm guessing you watched the news yesterday?" Mrs. Stacy nodded. "So I'm guessing that you know that I'm Spider-Man." She nodded again. "Well I came by to apologize for Gwen's death. I would have done it ten months ago but it would have blown my secret identity."

"Peter, why are you apologizing? It was not your fault. I don't know how she died. Heck, no one does."

"I was with her the night she died. I had stopped her from going on the plane to England to tell her that I was going to go with her. We were both really happy, when Electro had turned all of the power off in the city.

"I forced her against her will to stay with the police while I went to go after him. Gwen escaped and Electro would have never been defeated if she hadn't. Then out of nowhere, the Green Goblin appeared and swooped Gwen off."

"I got her from him before we fell into the clock tower. I was trying to multitask keeping her safe and fighting him. Once I had left him sprawling, I turned to see Gwen falling. I tried to save her but." He choked. "But I failed her. I'm sorry."

Mrs. Stacy brushed a tear from her cheek. "Peter, even after hearing this I still believe that her death is not your fault. If Gwen were to be here right now, she would probably tell you not to be so hard on yourself and that she still loves you very much."

"Gwen couldn't possibly love me after what happened."

"Well that's the thing about love Peter. It allows you to look past someone's faults and scars and see their better nature." Peter thanked Mrs. Stacy before heading to school.

He was at his locker grabbing one of his books when his high school friend Eddie Brock approached him.

"Hey Eddie." But before Peter could say anything else Eddie slapped him on the face. "What the hell was that for?"

"That was for Gwen, you murdering son of a gun!"

"Um I don't think Gwen would be to happy about you slapping me." He smirked. "After all, since I was her favorite person."

Eddie narrowed his eyes."You don't get it, do you? I have been friends with Gwen since kindergarten and loved her since freshman year."

"Freshman year? As in last year? You fell in love with a dead girl?"

"In high school, idiot. It wasn't until when I had finally gotten the courage to ask her out when BAM! You swooped in and swept her off her feet. I was forgotten. And since you're the reason she's dead, I have another reason to hate you. You've made a dangerous enemy Parker. I'd watch your back if I were you."

Peter was not scared of Eddie's threat. All he cared about at the moment was just getting to his next class on time. Today had been one of the hardest days of his life since Gwen's death. He was followed everywhere, by both paparazzi and girls, called on by teachers when he didn't even raise his hand, and Gwen was constantly mentioned in front of him. For just once Peter wanted to let go of the past and focus on the present, but it had gotten even harder to do.

Work was getting harder for him too. People, sometimes people not working at The Daily Bugle, would gawk at him from his office cubicle. The only person that seemed to be treating Peter the same as before was J.J. He had gotten so tired of people not doing their job that he had given Peter his own office.

It wasn't until the next day that Peter ran into M.J. He had been trying to avoid her to avoid an awkward situation.

She stopped him in the hallway at school."Peter, I'm so sorry that I tried to kiss you. If I had only known, I wouldn't have tried to do it." Peter just nodded his head and went on his way to class.

Two weeks later, Peter was doing work in his small office when he heard a knock on the door.

"Come in, J.J."

But it wasn't J.J. that opened the door. In stepped a tall, balding man in work clothes. He had an Oscorp name tag on."Peter Parker, my name is Alistair Smythe, and there is something I have to offer you."
