I start screaming and thrashing around. I hear footsteps walking--no, running--across the hallway. In storms Jen.
"Are you okay?" she asks before she comes over and lies beside me.
"It was just a nightmare. I'm sorry," I say before she tells me she would do anything for me.
"Jen? Can I lie with you?" I whisper.
"Sure c'mon."
She leads me into her master bedroom. I lie down on her huge bed and make myself comfortable. She lies down beside me and embraces me.
"I love you," she whispers before falling asleep.
"I love you too," I whisper barely audible.
Soon, sleep consumes me. I've never slept better. I feel like Jenny was--no is--my guardian angel.
I get up an hour later, careful not to wake up Jen. I tiptoe downstairs. I search the millions of cupboards and finally find some snack food: Cool Ranch Doritos. After eating a few, I go back inside Jen's room and cuddle against her before falling asleep once again.
