"Dean calm down," said Sam soothingly.
"Calm?! How can I be calm, Sam? How are you even calm right now?" Dean yelled.
"Shh you'll wake Cas up," he said, pointing to Castiel passed out in the backseat of the speeding car.
"Let him wake up! Then we can ask him why the hell he didn't know us!"
"You know, it was dark and-"
"Oh Sam don't bullshit me, you know Cas would recognize us anywhere. It must have something to do with the fall. I swear whatever Metatron did to him, I will make him pay. I'm going to kill that son of a bitch!"
"I agree with you, okay? But we have to deal with what's going on right now. We have to figure out our next, nonviolent move to help Cas and that involves you slowing down the goddamn car before you kill us all!"
Dean slowed down the car only to speed up again as he spoke.
"We should wake him up, ask him what he remembers and what he doesn't."
"We should find a motel or something first. He needs his rest; he probably hurt his head."
"Fine," Dean sighed. "Where are we?"
Sam looked at his phone.
"We're actually close to Stanford..."
Dean looked at Sam.
"We haven't been here since..."
"Since Jess, yeah I know."
"Are you gonna be alright?"
"Yeah, yeah I'll be fine. Uh I remember there was a motel near the campus. Take a left up here."
They arrived at the motel, paid for a room, snuck Cas upstairs, and plopped him on the bed.
"You wanna get some sleep Dean?" asked Sam. "I can take the couch."
"No, it's fine. I'll take the couch, you can have the other bed; I probably won't get much sleep anyway."
"Dean-"
"Sam?"
"Nothing. Just try to get some sleep okay?"
"Yeah, sure."
Sam immediately dozed off, allowing Dean to sit on Castiel's bed beside him. Dean examined him. He seemed to be fine except for a small bruise on his right temple. There was an eyelash on his cheek. Dean slowly brushed it away and Cas shot up straight making Dean fall back startled and Sam wake up and jump up from the bed.
"Cas? Cas, are you okay?" Dean questioned.
"Where am I?"
"A motel room. Sam and I-"
"Who the hell are you?"
A tear swelled up in Dean's eye and his voice cracked as he said quietly, "You really don't remember?"
"That you kidnapped me?! Sorry, I'm a little hazy on that part given that you knocked me unconscious!"
"Cas buddy, calm down," Sam said gently, although he couldn't hide the pain in his voice.
"Calm down?! How the hell am I supposed to calm down? I'm calling the police!"
"Wait please, just let us explain!" Sam cried.
Cas reached for a phone in a hurry and Dean had no other choice.
"I'm sorry for this," Dean said before he punched Cas in the face.
