‘I’m really sorry about that,’ I told the taxi driver. ‘Thanks’, I added grabbing my luggage.
‘No worries love,’ the man replied. ‘Your Mum paid the fare and stuff when I picked you up,’ he informed me. I’d have to remind myself to thank Mum for that one later, I thought. ‘Do you want some help with your bags?’ He offered.
‘No, thanks,’ I answered; ‘I can handle it.’
‘That’s fine,’ the man answered. ‘Have a nice day, Miss, and enjoy your trip!’
I smiled, thanked the man and wished him well as he climbed back into the taxi and headed off before picking up my bags and heading into the airport.
Two hours, and another conversation with Cal later I was sitting on the plane, preparing for takeoff. I slid my headphones into my ears and settled down to drift off to sleep. Soon enough, I was being woken by one of the flight attendants, who informed me that we were due to land. I smiled to myself, thankful that the journey had been peaceful. I couldn’t help being excited by the thought of seeing my best friend again, this next week and a half was going to be awesome, I could feel it. Cal and I never had to be doing anything special to enjoy each other’s company, and a lot of the time, I thought this was what made our friendship work so well.
