‘Hello?’ he asked. ‘Yeah, we’ve been at the airport pretty much all morning.’ He explained. ‘I told you, we’re picking Kelsie up.’ He replied to whoever was on the other end of the line. ‘Yes, she’s here, we’re just catching up over coffee while she and Luke get to know each other a bit.’ There was another pause as he was spoken to again. ‘No, not like that, Michael, you sick freak!’ he laughed. ‘Of course not!’ he added seriously. ‘Kelsie’s not that type of girl. Plus, Luke isn’t as much of a player as we make him out to be, he’s not like that, either, and you know it.’ ‘Yeah, something might happen between them, but so what if it does?’ he asked. ‘Besides, they barely even know each other yet’ he went on. ‘They could end up working out that they hate each other. Even if something does happen, I don’t mind’ he added, ‘as long as they’re both happy.’ There was another pause. ‘I’m not sure, so I won’t go setting anything in concrete just yet,’ he said. ‘I haven’t had a chance to ask Kels what she wants to do.’ He explained. ‘Can you at least give me time to get her home so she can relax for a bit?’ He asked. ‘Anyway, she might not even feel up to it tonight.’ he added.

Checking his watch, Cal picked up his coffee, and nodded towards the door. Luke picked up my bags and I collected our things before the two of us followed the preoccupied Calum through the cramped little café and out into the lobby of the crowded airport. ‘I’ll call you back later once I’ve sorted it out with Kelsie, alright?’ He waited for this Michael guy to say something. ‘I’ve got to go; we’ve got to get home.’ He said. ‘She hasn’t even seen my family yet and she’s been off the plane for almost forty-five minutes.’ He explained. ‘Mum’s probably going to kill me if I keep Kels from her much longer.’ He joked. ‘Yeah, alright, bye. Lub choo too, loser.’ He laughed.
