‘Have been for nearly sixteen years.’ I replied nonchalantly as Cal slid into the booth next to me and handed out drinks. The mouthful of steaming rich coffee Luke had just hesitantly half inhaled came flying over the table top and hit me in the face. ‘That’s insane!’ He choked, as Calum grabbed a handful of napkins from the empty table next to us and began trying to clean my face. ‘Please tell me you’re joking?!’ I just shook my head in response because I was unable to speak due to the fact Cal was still wiping at my face. I grabbed his hand and set it on the table. ‘Thanks.’ I grinned. He just smiled back before looking at Luke, who had gone quiet. ‘I’m sorry about that.’ The blonde mumbled. He wouldn’t meet my eye. ‘Damn it, Calum,’ I said turning to my best friend ‘why did you bring the one who’s softer than fairy floss? He’s not much fun.’ Both boys laughed.

‘Seriously though,’ Luke said, suddenly all business again. ‘I can’t believe you aren’t seeing anyone, and there is no way you’ve never been in a relationship.’

‘Tell me, Luke, why exactly do you find that so hard to believe?’ I enquired coolly.

‘Is she actually serious?’ Luke sounded distant as he turned to Calum curiously.

Cal just smiled at his band mate and set his coffee down before raising his hands in front of himself, as if to say ‘don’t drag me into this one.’ He settled further back into his seat, then; getting comfortable, I guessed, before raising his eyebrows at the boy across the table and saying ‘I believe the lady asked you the question, Prince Charming.’ He stayed quiet, then; waiting for Luke to say something.

‘You’re gorgeous.’ He said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. ‘Honestly, has nobody ever said that to you? Surely someone has expressed some kind of interest in you?’ He seemed completely baffled.  I kind of liked the fact that he seemed to care so much. I knew at least Calum was aware of this, but I wondered if Luke could tell. I doubted it, though; we didn’t know each other at all. I figured it was best just to smile at him in thanks, rather than say anything and make a fool of myself.
