The small girl ran her legs and lungs burning, as the cool summer wind whirled around her. Loud footsteps sounds not far in the distance. All of her efforts were useless as the grown men were trained soldiers and she was merely a twelve year old girl. She was soon tackled to the ground the last bit of air being pushed from her lungs as blood trickled down her forehead her vision going dark.

It had been almost six months of unbearable torture. Evelyn was so numb she didn't hear the alarms nor did she notice the familiar voices gradually getting louder. She was so desensitized she didn't realize that the arms around her figure were those of her father. Her now dull eyes glanced around frantically before landing on his face. She thought she must be dead for there was no hope. she had been told that by all of her guards, no hope, they don't care. No hope they aren't looking. No hope. The same words she had heard time and time again over the past 6 months. they were burned in her brain, and they wouldn't leave.

Ashley gazed upon her daughters bruised figure with teary eyes. This was not her fairytale, perfect life she had planned. Her daughter had been taken and hurt, while Evelyn's father didn't rescue her fast enough. She knew what was right she had to take her daughter, her 𝓅𝑒𝓇𝒻𝑒𝒸𝓉 angel away from this life.

The court battle had been going for months over the custody of Evelyn. Despite the girls pleas her parents continued to fight over what would be best for their. Although her father had put up a strong fight, Evelyn's mother gained soul custody. Now Ashley had full control over her daughter and did what she thought was best, she took her daughter to Canada to get as far away as possible from her father.

As the years went on Ashley became more and more obsessed with absolute perfection. Her daughter was going to be the perfect image at any cost, it was in her best interest after all.

Once Evelyn gained her many soulmarks on her sixteenth birthday, her mother grew sour and rules became more strict.

Anything as miniscule as a snarky comment would result in harsh punishment.

A door slam could result in a beating if she was on her last strike that week.

An enhanced immune system was needed as perfect girls don't get sick.

Faster healing was necessary because perfect girls don't have any marks on their skin, bruises, blemishes, cuts, or anything of that sort.

Many "small" adjustments were made. Perfect girls aren't weak.

A small sob or show of sadness, anger, or displeasure could result in a beating. A perfect girl doesn't show any unpleasant emotions.

Evelyn's every move was monitored from when she woke up, until she went to sleep. Five years of being told the same thing tends to have an effect on the brain, so once the girl was 18 she was her mothers idea of perfection. Until her mothers untimely demise that was.

Tony was cautious to pick up the phone due to the unfamiliar number and area code. The instant he heard the words that came from the other line Tony was sent into a spiral of emotions. His daughter, his baby was coming home.

The avengers watched a frantic Tony make call after call pacing in his lab. They watched in confusion as he quickly left the building and sped off in a car without explanation or warning.

Author's note

I apologise if my writing is bad. I'm trying to get better and this is my first time writing a story other than the short stories I had to write in English class. I'm testing the waters right now and if this turns out well I'll continue the book although I don't have a plot planned out so this might be a garbage fire.
