As everyone arrived in the living room Thor's face lit up and he threw his arms up
"Friends! I have returned and brought my brother with me!" He exclaimed causing Loki to grimace, and Evelyn to have a feeling of deja vu. The team responded with a chorus of hellos before they moved to sit down in the living room welcoming the gods in. Evelyn moved to sit down but stopped noticing there were no seats left available, upon noticing her hesitation Pietro moved quickly bringing her to his lap.
"Hi princessa, you're welcome to sit here anytime." He said in a low tone next to Evelyn's ear. She felt herself get flustered before looking towards Tony to find him eyeing the situation before crossing his arms with an unhappy expression on his face.
"I'm hungry!" A loud slightly whiny Clint sounded from next to Natasha, this caused a conversation of what to eat which was chaotic to say the least.
"Pizza! We should do pizza!" Bucky said, pausing conversation, as a quiet agreement fell upon the group.
-
Once the food arrived Evelyn was first to grab a piece before moving to sit at the table. The rest of the group rushed to get one of the seats next to her, and Pietro would've succeeded if it hadn't been for Loki stealing the chair. Natasha was able to claim the chair to her right, and almost everyone was too scared to challenge her.
Evelyn watched the whole ordeal with amusement, as she waited for everyone to find a seat so they could begin eating. The instant she began eating she let out an involuntary noise of happiness causing the table to halt their motions. Once she realised what had happened she placed a hand over her mouth embarrassed before explaining.
"Sorry! I just haven't had pizza in about five years." Her statement caused everyone's eyes to widen. Clint was the first to speak up,
"How did you five years without this?" He said gesturing towards the remaining pizza on his plate.
"I wasn't allowed, too fattening." She explained casually eyes focused on the table. The others were upset to say the least she could tell by the varying levels of anger and sympathy flowing through her marks. Loki laid a hand on her back comfortingly in an attempt to soothe his new found soulmate.
"I'm not really hungry anymore, I think I'm going to go." Evelyn said excusing herself from the table ignoring the pleading calls of her soulmates as she left the room.
-
Once she arrived in her room Evelyn ran to her bed flinging herself down begging to sob quietly. She was too broken for them. She brought her knees to her chest as she continued to cry.
Eventually she cried herself to sleep throwing her into nightmares of her past.
_________
Evelyn collapsed exhausted, she hadn't eaten in three days and was working out constantly. She hadn't reached the weight goal her mother had set for that month and was not prepared for the maniacal punishment her mother had planned if she failed this.
"Get up girl!" Ashley yelled walking towards her daughter. "I won't repeat myself again, get up!" she said through gritted teeth giving her daughter a harsh kick in the ribs and a sickening crack sounded through the room followed by a strangled cry from Evelyn. Shakily Evelyn rose from the ground, before she looked up to meet the harsh gaze of her mother.
"Good, now it is time to see your progress this month." Ashley said grasping Evelyn's shoulder, escorting her towards the scale. "Did you reach your goal sweetheart?" Ashley said sickeningly sweet. Evelyn gulped before stepping on the scale, it read 113 lbs, this caused Ashley to click her tongue in disapproval. "What was your goal this month honey?" She said with a painfully tight grip on Evelyn's bicep.
"110 pounds" She replied quietly.
"Ahh yes, that's correct. Now how far over are you?" Ashley said grip tightening.
"Three pounds." Evelyn said struggling not to cry, as that would just worsen things for her.
"That's right! You didn't reach your goal, you cow!" She screeched throwing Evelyn down "You insolent little girl! You can't do one thing right can you?" she continued to rage, before changing to a more wicked tone a spine-chilling smile twisting her features "Well honey I guess not everyone is perfect." she paused as Evelyn looked up hopefully ."We have to fix that don't we?" Ashley said snapping her fingers and watching as her 'friends' dragged her daughter away by her arms thrashing violently letting out cries and pleas.
-
"Can I have something to eat? Please?" Evelyn said with a hoarse voice, she hadn't eaten in two weeks and she looked moribund.
Ashley looked her up and down before crouching to her level, "You can once you succeed." She said a death grip on the girl's jaw keeping her from turning away.
"Anything! I don't want to die! Not like this." Evelyn cried, saying the last bit just above a raspy whisper. This made a wicked grin twist up Ashley's features.
"Now that wasn't too hard. Was it?" She responded in a happy tone before leaving, for a moment coming back with a 'gift'. "Here sweetheart drink this." She said handing Evelyn a glass of black liquid, "After that you can eat as much as you want, I promise." hearing this make Evelyn drink it without a second thought.
The liquid felt thick like sludge, and tasted repugnant. She felt as though she might vomit but she held it in. Evelyn felt searing pain begin to move through her body, her head was spinning and her skin was burning. She let out a scream, tears welling in her eyes she looked to her mother for some form of comfort and the woman looked ecstatic seeing her daughter writhe in pain.
_________
Tony was made aware of his daughter's nightmare by his system, and rushed to her room worried.
The sight before him made Tony want to cry, his daughter was there crying, screaming even, and she looked like she was in pain. He rushed to her bedside and started to try to shake her awake.
Evelyn's eyes snapped open, still unaware of her surroundings she moved quickly pushing Tony to the ground before sitting on his stomach hands pinned to his sides. The action startled him slightly. Realising she was still in a dream like state he began talking calmly.
"Hey, hey it's okay. I'm not trying to hurt you." She looked down at him confused slightly as he spoke. "It's me your dad, remember?" Her grip loosened slightly before tightening again. "Pumpkin-" The childhood nickname seemed to bring a flash of recognition across her face before her eyes softened and she scrambled away quickly.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't know it was you! I'm sorry!" She squeaked out pushing her back against the wall, beginning to cry once more. Tony slowly moved over to his daughter tying not to scare her.
"It's okay, I understand come here." He said in a soft tone arms open. Evelyn slowly moved towards her father curling into his embrace. He began to rub circles on her back comfortingly saying a quiet 'it's okay' and 'you're going to be okay' here and there until she was no longer crying. "What happened?" he asked concerned for what caused his daughter so much stress.
"I had a nightmare" She responded meekly.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He responded still rubbing her back.
"It was like I was there again, my mother's home, and I could feel everything it felt so real. I hadn't met my goal and she- sh," Her body began to shake again remembering the feeling of the drink she was given. "It wasn't just a nightmare though, that's why it felt so real. It was a memory." She said teary eyed looking to her father who looked upset himself.
"That vile witch! What did she do?" He said beginning to raise his voice slightly annoyed with her mother. He was about to continue to push for details but stopped himself before he could upset his daughter anymore then she already was.

Some more of her past, and some time with Tony because I haven't been able to write him in very much. I'm trying to stick to updating more frequently so I hope to get another chapter out soon!
Stay safe out there <3
