"HEY DAD," MAISIE SAYS AS SHE answers her phone, propping it between her ear and her shoulder as she continues to search for secret arsenals. "How's the search for the soul sucker going?"
"Just about as good as it was going yesterday, Mai." Dean sighs through the phone. "Bunch of people without souls, a bunch of bupkis on where Amara is."
"Sounds like you could use some help." Maisie suggests, putting the phone onto speaker to pack a few days of fresh outfits.
"No," Dean interjects quickly. "Mai, not after last week. It's your birthday in a few days, we'll be back for then."
"Hard pass." Maisie says quickly. The time of speed that will definitely have Dean questioning why she opposes her birthday so much. "I'd much prefer pumping lead into an ancient deity. I can do this, Dad."
"And if you can't? If Amara gets to you and sucks out your soul?"
"She won't, I promise," Maisie says as she throws the last of her clothes and small 'jewellery' that was secretly a monster repelling item into her duffle. "I'll see you soon dad, love you!" The girl exclaims pulling the phone away from her ear, smiling as she hears Dean's muffled protests as she hangs up, shaking her head as she thinks of her father's frustration at her actions. She tucks the phone in her pocket, looking up at the framed photo by the front door. It was her and her mother. One of the photos Dean salvaged from the original crime scene. With a deep breath, Maisie looks away, throwing her bag over her shoulder she walks out of her room.
"Hey, Ca-" Maisie starts to call out before cutting herself off, listening to the conversation on the other.
"Oh, I'm fine." She hears him say over the phone. "Um, nothing on angel radio...Oh, why would I leave?... I've got everything I need right here... It's a rerun. She's just about to announce the paternity results." Just as he says that, Maisie hears some muffled voices of the TV, followed by Cas' critical analysis of whatever was said. "Jenny, he is not ready to be a father." The angel is silent for a long time before he speaks up again. "Yeah, well, a man can't live on caviar alone, Dean." Maisie's attention perks up as she walks into the door, watching the engrossed angel have a conversation with her father who was only moments ago on the phone to her. She watches for a long while as Cas listens to her father's voice undoubtedly reprimanding him over his choice in TV series.
"Oh." Cas replies finally, waiting a few more moments before ending the call, turning his attention to the young girl. He holds up his phone as if in proof. "Dean said I should stop you." He claims, nonchalantly.
"Are you going to?" Maisie crosses her arms, raising an eyebrow. The two stare at each other for a long time before the girl rolls her eyes, turning around. "That's what I thought."

To avoid spending the next 25 hours in a car, Maisie opts to do something that her father self-admittedly never could; catch a flight. The 25 hour travel time is then minimised to just under six hours with the sun just about to set. After arriving on the other side of the country, the girl climbs out of her 'borrowed' car, carrying the duffle on her back towards the first motel in the phone book in the location Dean had been telling her about. She takes her lockpick from her pocket, walking up to the room hired out to the Winchester's aliases. Jiggling the lock a few times, she manages to successfully open the door only to be met with the barrel of a gun.
"Don't shoot, it's me." Maisie says quickly, hands raising, the piece of metal clattering to the floor by her feet.
"What the hell!" Dean snaps as he lowers his gun. "The car is in the parking lot, did you not think to knock!?"
"There is also a bar across the street." Maisie rebuttals. "And the street lights are on, I figured there was a 50/50 shot of you being here." Dean rolls his eyes and turns his attention back to the man with the bag over his head. Maisie is just about to comment when Sam seems to register something.
