"WHAT THE HELL'S going on here, exactly?" Dean asks as the three stare at the man in front of them. Maisie already knew but she was in way too much shock to do anything. She was surprised that the man responded to her prayer. Did he respond? Or was that just a coincidence? But mostly, she was angry.
What amount of truth did Lucifer provide to her? How much involvement did god have in her current predicament?
"I'm happy to... fill in the blanks," God says to the three. "But maybe we should go somewhere where we could actually sit down."
"We're not going anywhere with you." Dean snaps. "Okay, how do we even know that you're really Chuck and not just some-" Suddenly the four are back at the bunker as Dean continues his speal. "crazy spell or manifest...ation." Dean looks around in confusion before he notices the ghost of a dead friend.
"Kevin?" Sam questions as Maisie tilts her head, looking at the boy in confusion. He appeared to be about her age. The only difference is that he would always remain that age where Maisie would be free to grow old.
"Who's this?" Maisie asks, looking between her father and uncle.
"Kevin," Dean says in a spaced out tone, he was still trying to process everything. "He is- uh... was... a prophet." Dean clears his throat. "Kevin, this is, uh... my daughter. Maisie."
"Your daughter," Kevin breathes out an amused chuckle. "You know, that doesn't surprise me." Kevin sighs, looking between the three. "You're looking stressed. Especially you." Kevin turns his attention to the particularly stunned Dean. "I-It's cool. Trust Chuck. Whatever it is he needs you to do, he must think you can handle it. I always trusted you.""Yeah, that ended well." Dean breathes sarcastically.
"How did you-" Sam stutters. "Are you okay, or- uh?"
"Um... Yeah, I mean, you know, given the circumstances."
"Yeah, I don't mean to interrupt." God who -for whatever reason Maisie isn't privy to- is being called Chuck by all involved parties speaks up. "Kind of a plateful here. And, Kevin... you've been in the Veil long enough. It's time you had an upgrade." God waves his hand and the boy Maisie had just met turns into a soul, climbing up through the ceiling and into heaven."Holy crap." Dean says, frozen in shock.
The group stay silent and still for a long time as they process they are standing in front of God, Maisie being the first to move, leaning against a wall while Sam, Dean and God sit closer together, having a conversation that Maisie is only half a part of. She was still trying to process her anger towards the man.
"Okay. So, wow, um, Chuck-" Sam laughs half heartedly. "Well, I guess we don't call you that, huh?""I prefer it." Chuck says.
"Okay, uh, 'Chuck' it is..." Sam sighs. "I'm sorry. You're gonna have to, uh, give Dean, Maisie and me a moment to start to process. We didn't even know you were around. I mean, we knew about Chuck, but we just didn't know about... Chuck. I mean, I-I-I was hoping you were around. I-I-I prayed and I- but I don't know if they got, uh, lost in the spam or if-"
"Sam?" Dean cuts him off.
"Yeah?"
"Babbling."
"Okay." Sam looks down at his hands for a moment as he tries to wrap his head around the fact that he was in the same room as God. Maisie simply stared -if not glared- at the man from afar.
"I'm getting that not everyone's totally on board." Chuck looks between Dean and Maisie.
Dean looks to his daughter, sighing before looking to the man, grabbing his hands together as he tries to have a down to earth talk with the man who literally created earth. "Here's the thing, um...Chuck... And I mean no disrespect. Um... I'm guessing you came back to help with the Darkness, and that's great." Dean continues to look between God and his daughter. "That's, you know - It's fantastic. Um, but you've been gone a - a... long, long time. And there's so much crap that has gone down on the Earth for thousands of years. I mean, plagues and wars, slaughters. And you were, I don't know, writing books, going to fan conventions. Were you even aware, o-or did you just tune it out? I mean- surely you knew, you gave Maisie my daughter this- this-"
